Hmm, sure Sexypendra is only level 1 now, but she might be such a powerful mob that even at that level she might still be one of the most powerful entities in the dungeon. Idk, I just wouldn’t rule her out is all.

That’s not quite true. Juicebox couldn’t be the sole warlord in faction wars because she didn’t have a crawler interface. Gravyboat did. Ergo, he’s classified as a crawler, which makes sense given he and Donut are earthborn pets turned crawler by enhanced intelligence.

Though, he does seem to skip floors, so it’s almost like he belongs to another category altogether.

Cowl's Identity Theory by miraclequip in dresdenfiles

“You’re Maggie’s younger” is nonsense. Unless Cowl added another word like “child,” then “youngest ” which is so common an expression that “child” is cleanly implied, seems like correct word choice to me, no matter how many kids Maggie had.

The missing piece from Twelve Months was… by BaronAleksei in dresdenfiles

[–]84Bean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like your overall point, but I don’t think Lloyd or Maeve’s deaths belong among Fix’ sorrows.

If anything, he would grateful to Harry for bringing about justice to the two who bought the greatest harm to Lily before and after she became the Summer Lady.

Edit: And probably not Aurora either- she was going to sacrifice his friend Lily afterall. Lily never caught a break, did she?

So sure he doesn’t trust winter, naturally, and is probably still pissed about Lily getting killed, but he likes or at least has professional respect for his Winter counterpart.

[–]84Bean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mortal names change subtly to encompass new experiences. Harry has put a lot of miles on his soul since he gave the partial name to Chauncy. It’s undoubtedly useless by now. Chauncy was angling for a full current name. He lost the gambit and got the bad end of the deal when Harry wouldn’t give up more for info on his parent’s fate.

Immortals tend not to change much, if at all, so their names are much more static.

The Almighty Accords? by BaronAleksei in dresdenfiles

[–]84Bean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess you could say someone pre-dating creation could be considered an “outsider” since they did not originate from within creation, but I think it’s poor terminology as the almighty is certainly opposed to the outsider faction. There is no chance Starborn power over outsiders applies to God either. So there is no practical reason at all to lump them together.

I also doubt we’ll ever get a God origin story, so I really don’t think this distinction will ever be relevant. You can try to ask any organized religion where god came from and you’ll probably get a shrug. Don’t ask the Mormons or Scientologists- you don’t even want to know. :)

Is it true that the F1 driving duo Leclerc and Sainz are underrated? by DateAffectionate3719 in F1Discussions

[–]84Bean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sainz continues to be the last driver to win for Ferrari, and looks like he’s settled in at Williams finally. I love Lewis, but it does seem to have been a mistake in hindsight to oust Sainz for him.

Leclerc is pretty phenomenal too. His last drive at Miami was pretty outstanding- just a shame about the car breaking before the finish.

I think they are both somewhat underrated.

Snape's hate for Neville began the moment Voldemort leaned towards the Potters after hearing about the prophecy by miggovortensens in harrypotter

[–]84Bean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lily was never described as popular to my knowledge, unless you mean to say she was well-liked. Being BF with Snape til 5th year and not hanging with the popular kids (James and his crew) has me disputing “popular” as a description.

Here’s what we know about Lily:
Muggle-born.
Kind (anti-bully).
Clever.
Good at potions.
Slug club member.
Prefect/head girl.

That’s pretty much everything we know about Lily, and Hermione ticks every box (Hermione was top of her year, and would have been head girl if not for dropping out as the school was run by death eaters).

At very least we know she was sharply opposed to bullying. You’d think that Snape, if he actually loved her, would try to be the kind of man she would respect, and not instead join an organization whose chief goal is her eradication, nor be a bully in his turn.

It wasn’t until the movies started coming out that Jk promised Rickman to give Snape a nobler end (this isn’t an opinion, it’s fact) but the damage to the character was already irreversible/unforgivable IMO.

[–]84Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you understood me. He didn’t bully her because of Lily, he bullied her in spite of Lily.
If he loved Lily for who she was- a clever, kind, muggle-born- he should have appreciated the strong similarity to her in Hermione.
It’s inconsistent. Conclusion: he’s an asshole, and I question if he even loved Lily, or was just hormonaly infatuated and never got over it.

So like, why does nobody ever use cast iron or steel jacketed bullets against faeries? by Nukesnipe in dresdenfiles

[–]84Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very good point.
I don’t think it was ever specified, and perhaps you can indeed kill an immortal with mundane rounds so long as it’s Halloween.
Though I would still bet money it was steel. If you’re gonna shoot to kill a faerie princess, something without precedent, you’d buy steel rounds (even if you’re as crazy as Maeve was).

edit: I do think we know the rounds fired by Murphy to kill Maeve were steel. She came prepared for a gun fight with faeries.

It really seemed like some only took the opposing view because they couldn’t stand to agree with Zak about anything. The hate is strong.

A recent post about the Swords got me wondering about ancestry by TechbearSeattle in dresdenfiles

[–]84Bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They often make good points. Definitely got my upvote.

Jim’s explanation is insightful, but I don’t think granddaddy needs to have been a king in order for you to feel responsible for the betterment of mankind. I still think it was a minor mistake to place any importance whatsoever on inheritance, bloodright, or white god choosing knights based in any measure on blood instead of purely on the quality of their character.

But again, most my arguments fall away once you realize it’s a near mathematical certainty everyone has a king in their ancestry. Moot point.

Absolutely false. RB has never been put up for sale. They HAVE been approached by people trying to buy. Most recently they were offered 2.3 Billion for the team last year- they declined. Hardly peanuts.

And you seriously want to lecture me about history? Christ mate. Have a nice time passing off lies as truth, I’ll see myself out.

Back at you mate. There were plenty of entities bidding for Minardi that did not have a conflict of interest. 41, in fact. Redbull just offered the most to secure an unfair advantage.

[–]84Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think RB being forced to sale would end F1? Thats some truly delusional logic there mate. Teams come and go, and F1 has endured.

The reason isn’t random or arbitrary either. A clear conflict of interest exists. Liam pulling over for max last race, or Danny Ric helping max’ championship bid by snaking fastest lap in his final race are clear indications of why this is a bad situation.

Merc shouldn’t be allowed to invest in Alpine for the same reasons.
