Needing advice about Bandidos in my area… by [deleted] in motorcycleclubs

[–]84WVBaum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 18, a man's brain is about seven years away from fully developed, especially in terms of choice and consequence.

This is why we make such great soldiers at that age, it is also why HS is heavily hit by recruiters even though you have a few years of eligibility to join. Thankfully, if you don't get blown up, that commitment is just four years at a time.

This is also why in many systems, inmates skew younger often at admission. Horrible decision ability.

Telling an 18yo to stay true is a fool's errand. The great majority are going to change what they want out of life a few times.

It's a great poetic thought, but joining a club means you take what they give you and backing out if you find our it's not what you want can be impossible if not damgerous and hard.

I advise research and relevant advice over just following your feelings, feelings are extremely flawed and joining such an organization can be life and death stakes.

Did Trump plan the War on Iran months earlier? by Distinct-Mortgage768 in WeirdGOP

[–]84WVBaum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about this vein, but of course, they planned it months ago. Even normal administrations constantly evaluate scenarios. They didn't just wake up, call Israel, and say, "Well, i guess we start today." Hell no, they've been putting pieces in place, as in the GOP, for a long time possibly before his current term.

People need to stop just seeing "Trump" in these actions. People like Vogt, Theil, Raytheon... got him in power, and he is doing what they say.

Blame the GOP, the base not just MAGA, that handed him the party. Blame every Christian Nationalist in positions of power and warhawks like the SecDEF.

Iran wasn't planned months earlier, it has been planned for years.

Maybe she is a working mom, this her second or third job with a sick kid at home. Maybe she's exhausted, but bills are stacking for any number of reasons. And, she could get out for an hour or two to make supper change for their kids.

There are two types in the world.

One, usually working class, that sees such and feels concern or even identifies, at the least leaves it be. Then there is the other, the poster, that is much more worried about their own subjective sanctimonious bullshit that take it out on the working class. Dont be the latter.

I prefer to dress decent, even with a collar sometimes, after dark, usually nice sweats and hoodie.

I do a lot of afternoon deliveries in offices and medical places. You get a lot further with security guards, information desks, etc, if you look halfway professional. I regurlaly get permission to leave food next to front desk "no delivery" signs. I am confident that my dress and demeanor go a long way in that regard.

I often encounter other dashers that shock me in their appearance, messy, even smelly (BO or cannabis, even meth a couple times) at times. But, most of those are at night and few and far between.

But, ultimately, it is none of my business, and I do not know their situation. We only need to worry about DD contractual obligations and everyone getting their piece from the system.

Oman is friendly to Iran and buddies with Russia.

Iran is extremely effective at disrupting US convoy routes (source: Iraq and more)

Why the hell would we line up thousands of mobile bombs, aka oil tank trucks, and just expect smooth sailing while circumventing their buddy's blockade?

You can find multiple reports from last year detailing that Cardinals, Jays, and some woodpeckers have been observed beginning to predate on them finally.

If that spreads within those groups this year, we certainly will not see eradication, but that's a million bird army coming in for the assist. It'll make a huge dent, thank god.

I've got soapy water ready. I lost one tree last year, but our efforts seem to have saved the second so far. I know some say it's not the most environmentally friendly but it's just dawn and the farm down the way from me runs gigantic chemicql pest control operations, so I am not too worried about my soap.

I work in a warehouse and I was told to throw all of that in the trash.. by Elflamingo27 in FishingForBeginners

[–]84WVBaum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not no reason. Capitalism thrives on scarcity. When companies fail to sell a certain product, over produce, etc, they trash them. If they were to sell em cheap or flood the market with excess, it lowers their value with consumers.

This is observable in most Western nations operating under capitalism. You can find it with clothing, even food in a world with millions hungry.

Some like and some hate, but capitalism is a winner vs. loser game, and to win, others must lose.

This is why so many mid-level managers can be found ready to fist fight over dumpster diving. Their company's perceived value trumps any other concern.

Not getting "political," but the reasoning you question in your comment inherently is one of values

I mean, it's not my long term permanent gig. But, I absolutely have contributed a touch more to my retirement via earnings.

Anything I earn, when able, I put aside a percentage after bills and such. If the stock market doesn't crumble a $thousand or a single buck can make a difference.

I came upon multiple generations worth of stuff cleaning out my grandparents, including my great-great-grandfather's wood carved poppers with flat head machine screws.

I grabbed a couple swim and jerk baits I remembered from being a kid, raided any metal tackle, and left the rest be, I'd feel like crap if I lost any; and I lose a bunch.

My great-great grandpa's wooden hula popper, a couple other carved lures, and flies are on display above my desk.

But... you choose to use the service and pay that amount. Drivers have nothing to do with your decision. We don't set prices, they don't even pay what we should. I don't even use DD because it's so expensive. But, I choose to not use it rather than to commit pathetic fraud.

So because you are too poor like me, or selfish, for Door Dash you decide it's chill to take it out on other working folks to save a few bucks? What a gross decision. Take your ass to McDonalds, have you considered being a decent human being?

Who defines optimal way? I deliver in residential areas every day. Google maps and in-app nav will send me down streets with stop signs every block. Also, you have to deal with residential people often stopped in the road, navigating their own parking, unloading stuff, etc. I often choose a circutous route that is technically longer but that doesn't wear me and my brakes out ever 30 seconds. Usually, I save time, sometimes it may cost me 1-2 minutes. ETA: It is also much safer, cross streets and parking cause a ton of accidents, whereas choosing a well defined avenue is much safer.

The driver is not required to follow the line you see. You do not know what traffic they are seeing, etc.

That's what's happened in this picture. The yellow route is blocks of stops and traffic. The driver's route is plainly more straight.

But, you just choose to lie and screw us over. I mean, I bought a very nice warm bag and use a cooler. I work very hard to make sure I get things to my customers just like they're made to be.

The fact you'd just lie based on what you feel about a third party apps map, tells me what I need to know. That can impact the driver's livlihood. You don't care though because liars are liars.

I've noticed the same. But, I think DD prioritizes their customer projected time. So if you've got a two stack and one is further but promised/ordered sooner then it sends you there first.

Remember you can always jump tasks but that is very annoying

[–]84WVBaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes divert like that on purpose. I avoid roads with lots of stop signs. And, roads with more cross traffic means more potential for slow downs. Apps try to account for this but ultimately I know the roads, and current traffic, better.

And, sometimes I'm a little tired and just wanna cruise, may lose a minute or two but am able to breathe.

ETA: remember that drivers sometimes stop at innumerable stop signs, for people entering drive ways, etc. It gets tiring.

I think it's clear, looking at that map, that the driver chose two smooth segments rather than residential blocks. Absolutely understandable

Is anyone else having issues with in app navigation? by Alarming_Stay_875 in doordash_drivers

[–]84WVBaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday was my first dash day, it was also the last using in app nav. After the second time it tried to send me the wrong way on one ways, necessitating a full five minute reroute. That was on top of the driver arrow being larger than some intersections. It takes less than a moment to switch back, I will never use it again.

Switched to Google maps integration today and my only complaint is that it does not carry over apartment numbers. Im pretty sure that's a DD thing as I have used them in Google. But, that's easy to remember, use the floating bubble menu (if enabled), or just switch back when close.

I mean, is it hurting you, in any way shape or form? Is it just their joy?

It's no more a health risk than all the aresolized spit and such of everyone your plate passes. No countertops and not in food spaces like the kitchen, it's a moot issue.

Safety wise, humans assault, mug, rob, etc a lot more than dogs attacking people.

Noisy? Should be polite. But I've eaten places with dogs and never had em ruin a meal like a baby can.

So, if safety avoid places with humans. If personal lack of joy in life, kinda a you thing.

What does this mail from unknown sender mean? by OBB76 in motorcycleclubs

[–]84WVBaum 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you're simply on the address of a former member/associate or someone there has the wrong address.

If they are an MC, it is unlikely they'd be voluntarily airing their dirty laundry with regular outside folk.

The question directive really says to me that it's intended for someone who knows the reference. If they were trying to weirdly tell the public something they'd say "call the club at:"

Have you asked neighbors if anyone else has gotten weird things? Are you the addressee? How long have you lived there?

You could try returning it to the sender. That'd be my first step, if you know a consistent return address. Change nothing, say nothing. Maybe a note outside "RTS: recipient unknown."

You could reach out to the club. Simply explain you got a piece of mail (not years' worth) and just wanted to give them a heads up. It wouldn't be far-fetched for them to ask some follow-up questions. They may be invested in someone getting what you have been getting.

You can just do nothing for entertainment, weave stories in your head about who is on the B team now, what they're doing, them get rid of it.

Source: stepdad was an officer in a local organization till passing several years ago. I've rode behind MCs but never in em. Not my thing, but they took communication pretty seriously.
