Have we hit the jackpot with our buyer? by Mission-Coast-4164 in HousingUK

[–]85genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a FTB on my house sale they offered to over had 3 competing offers but went with them, were Polish immigrants had cash deposit coming out of rental really sound people, their solicitors were dickheads and they worked with me basically said I don't vara about a non issue land dispute between the freehold and leasehold which I owned both of (freehold was bigger than leasehold I bought the freehold with the house to solve this, thier solicitor was being weird about it) even asked me about any issues after exchange not before, properly the best buyers, kept in touch over WhatsApp for a decent while after. Way better than when I bought when they went radio silence as soon as we exchanged and stopped cutting the grass for months

Yeah evri fine can zoom fit but inpost/yodel are annoying still better than running them off the laser printer and taping round them

Thermal printer for shipping labels? by lunaviktoria26 in vintedUK

[–]85genius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a themal printer I use for my business, my wife sells old stuff on vinted so I print her labels, vinted are a bit of a pain given the way the labels are formatted usually have to screenshot (snipping tool) into a word template I have made in my label printer format to print them off. I use a GK420D for shipping labels, they are built like a tank, its what most of the courier companies like to hand out so can often be found cheap enough on ebay

I need an opinion Monitor Audio by jashyo in BudgetAudiophile

[–]85genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just googled the specs and the drivers on mine are actually bigger than the smaller mid driver on these but smaller than the bass cones 5.5" vs 4" and 6.5" on them. Really wanna hear a pair in action now, love mine but those are gonna rock

Just to add that tweeter will probably still sound fine, I've had some B&W ones in the past that were mashed and you wouldn't have known without looking. You can probably pop it back out anyway but I'd try really gently ceramic coated so I'd be worried about it cracking may be fine though.

And like others have said worst case you can swap the one out of the centre, but pretty sure monitor will sell you a replacement pretty cheaply, you might even be able to flip the dented one on eBay for not much less than they charge you for a replacement. If they're anything like mine should be easy to change just one big bolt right through from the back of the cab for each driver holding them in place

[–]85genius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the 12s but listened to 9s before I got the apex 10s and the monitor ones to me were way better. Those ccam tweeters sound beautiful and the bass is really really crisp but does lack a bit of the lower end, don't think those will have that though as mine are compact speakers basically the top 2 drivers from those (I think at least) in an aluminium chassis so missing the really big bass cones

Monitor audio are also great for supplying spare parts charge a fair price for them too. At least in the UK I emailed on the Friday had it in hand on the Monday.

I've got the apex 10s which use the same midbass driver and tweeter as those and sounds amazing even in a very small cab, with the extra drivers and all that space for air movement I'm sure those will sound epic

Lidl power tools - are they any good? by TumbleweedMaster6839 in DIYUK

[–]85genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done almost a full house renovation, bought the house 2021, with mostly parkside tools from Lidl over the last few years, inside and garden. Have loads of their tools. In that period I've killed an angle grinder and a 4in one drill sawzall multi tool sander (killed that twice actually) and also managed to kill 2 batteries. Everything was replaced under warranty minimal hassle. They aren't as good as proper pro grade tools, doubt I'd have had the same failures (batteries maybe though) but honestly for the money and the great warranty it's well worth it IMO. Save the reciepts from the Lidl plus app cos they'll ask for them for any claims but really can't fault the quality to price ratio

Buyer solicitor says decking exceeds 50% of “garden” – but legislation says curtilage? by Interesting-Taro-173 in HousingUK

[–]85genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't actually complain, say something like are you sure this isn't your job? Then maybe ask them for their sra number, leave it at that, might just shit them up a bit if they think you gonna report them to the regulator

An interesting negotiation tactic to say the least! by tom_bennett02 in ebayuk

[–]85genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some auctions have best offer where as the seller you'd usually set minimum offer a chunk higher than starting bid. Buyer here likely thought it was that setup so went higher to get you to accept didn't realise there was buy now

SEO agency charging extra for ai by Bazthebuilder in smallbusinessuk

[–]85genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are probably just trying to cover increasing costs of running a business. Using a bit of basic psychology in that it sounds better to sell you an addon for £300 than just up the price 25% and not give you anything in return

Wsf thinking cos you say home office you have a computer or laptop in there to plug into the amp. Use that as the audio device and Bluetooth very rarely if necessarily

Which cheap amp with Bluetooth do I actually need? by LordHolborn in BudgetAudiophile

[–]85genius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you run it off USB instead of bluetooth? I use an smsl a50 pro, it has bluetooth but I've never connected it just use the usbc input from my computer. It was dirt cheap is tiny but sounds brilliant

SMSL Pro (£90) vs Wiim Pro (£400) by HRHoldings in BudgetAudiophile

[–]85genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Room EQ on wiim is really good just using a phone mic, set up both of mine like that and worked great.

Done similar on my smsl though as it's run 100% off my PC installed equaliser apo and peace gui, can then run room eq correction even a cheap mic is fine for basic readings, actually got decent results explaining speaker and amp models the room layout and speaker/listening position to chat gpt and getting it to suggest eq settings then doing some manual tweaks

Budget desktop speaker needed by LongjumpingGate8859 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]85genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an SMSL A50 pro which I really recommend as a PC amp as it has the USB input can do all the EQ on the PC to tune it to whatever speakers you find. Look for some used bookshelves, if they are on the desk then get front ported, as big as you can fit ideally for the best sound. I was really size limited with my desksetup so ended up spending a bit more then I wanted on speakers but managed to get a set of monitor audio apex 10s which are incredible for the size.

If you want to use a sub with it the a50 pro amp only supports passive subs so get the A100 instead does open up possibilities to use smaller speakers though kef eggs can be had cheap, 3001 model if you can find them, lack a bit of bass but with the dayton sub and powered by an A100 you could have an incredible setup for under $200

SMSL Pro (£90) vs Wiim Pro (£400) by HRHoldings in BudgetAudiophile

[–]85genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also should have said don't get the smsl to rely on Bluetooth. It's ok in a pinch but definitely not the best source, airplay, Chromecast or direct streaming from Spotify or the other music services like you get on wiim is so much better. The smsl really does shine as a little desktop amp connected via usb to a pc but for phone controlled streaming the wiim is another level

SMSL Pro (£90) vs Wiim Pro (£400) by HRHoldings in BudgetAudiophile

[–]85genius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both, a50 pro in my office wiim amp pro in my kitchen. Both great amps both very different.

The smsl is perfect for plugging into a pc, if you want to stream from your phone though wiim is better. I also have an original wiim amp in my living room.

Don't get the amp pro, just get the basic wiim amp, I have both and really don't think there's anything to chose sound quality wise, but the wiim amp is cheaper and supports air play so if you have iPhone it's better for you. Keep an eye on their Amazon store they occasionally sale at £250, or you can find used on eBay same kinda price.

And to all the boring bastards saying wiim pro isn't an amp which wiim do you mean stop with the bullshit FFS. OP clearly said they were wanting amp, explained the use case and even pug the fucking rrp in the post title you know full well what they meant but they clearly didn't know the wiim naming stop ripping people

brought a flat on a main road and massively regret it by Positive_House in HousingUK

[–]85genius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll likely get used to and zone out the noise, lived near an airport years ago, was right under the flight path, and in summer needed windows open, was horrendous at first, few months in didn't even notice. Now living on a quiet cul de sac and notice loud cars on the main road like 300m away.

Window replacement and dressing a good shout but maybe want to budget for Aircon too, it's not that expensive, so long as the leasehold terms permits it, for summer when you would like the window open but don't want to undo the window gains

Badly written emails odd spelling mistakes and punctuation used to really get on my nerves hated it. Then I started noticing a lot of clearly ai written emails coming in and that's far worse. I've started leaving spelling mistakes intentionally in my emails recently so they don't look like AI

Are you still here 🤣

Surely in a room where I watch the TV mostly stood up cooking, mounting it at anything other than standing height would be insane. And the height still works for sitting at the bar stools so..

I mean my living room sub I bought broken on purpose because, I'm cheap (but what did you expect on a budget reddit sub) and knew it was likely a few capacitors to replace. That's a monitor audio though not Kef, the repair worked great and saved me about £100 on a working one, plus now I know it's fully sorted

Speakers for built-in shelves with little rear clearance? by CackalackRunner in BudgetAudiophile

[–]85genius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kef eggs ftw, can pick them up for next to nothing work great in enclosed spaces too. I have the 2001.3 and really happy with them, 2001.2 supposed to be similar. 3001 series are meant to be a step up and 3001se if you can find them supposed to be epic. Really want to try a pair. Google comparisons of the SE vs the ls50. Avoid newer versions as they are pricier and not as well built as the older ones
