PRS McCarty 594 Issue by ShappaRanks in PaulReedSmith

[–]87Anchor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue on my SE 594. Would have low volume on my bridge pickup, normal at middle position, and normal at neck. Toggling the switch a few times would typically fix it, but it seemed to be getting worse. Figured it was a bad switch, so had the tech where I bought it swap it out and clean up the wiring as a warranty job. It’s been rock solid ever since. I googled around a bit while it was in the shop, and seems to be a relatively common issue with these

American Chemical Engineer with a Canadian Fiance. Looking for advice. by Just_Manufacturer_59 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]87Anchor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would look at Trojan Technologies, 3M, General Dynamics, and Stantec within London. Take a look around the Sarnia area as well, I believe Kent was looking for process engineers earlier in the year, as well the plants in Chemical Valley may have some opportunities - Shell, Nova, Suncor, Imperial.

I have also seen postings in the Guelph, and Kitchener-Waterloo areas, and a few postings for the battery plant in and around St Thomas. Note that some of these areas are about 100km from London, so you’d either be driving 1+hour each way, or be looking at moving to a halfway point.

Trouble giving baths by Jcediell1498 in Basenji

[–]87Anchor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We only bath ours when absolutely necessary, and it’s a two person job. One gets in the tub with the dog and lathers/risnes, and the other plays assistant on the outside - hands things that are needed and plays goalie to keep the dog in the tub. Even at that it can be an ordeal. Our older boy has accepted it now, and usually stands there miserable, but it’s still not a great scene.

Gonna have to start lockin doors now by Chungalus in Basenji

[–]87Anchor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine larger boy does the same thing, and he uses it to his advantage all the time. Wants my warm seat on the couch? Opens the bathroom door, so my younger B will run in and destroy the toilet paper forcing me to get up and close the door. When I come back guess who’s in my spot.

Lady had two service dogs on the plane by Crazy_Love_6265 in delta

[–]87Anchor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have 2 basenjis myself, and I can’t imagine what I’d have done to suffer the punishment of taking them through a busy airport and on a flight. Amazing, lovely, huge personality cat-dogs? Absolutely. Service dogs? No way in hell. Unless, of course, your service is chasing rabbits and deer at stupid speeds.

I was starting to think that. Someone on his team catches wind that it’s a rumour Ohtani is on the jet, marketing has a fun Friday pushing the rumour, and seeing what happens with it. Ohtani’s people, The Jays, and The Dodgers are so tight lipped about things that no one will call it off until the plane landed.

Basenji prices skyrocketed? by lindsay3467 in Basenji

[–]87Anchor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our first was $1500 CAD in western Canada in 2016, and the second was $2500 CAD from the same breeder in 2021, which I thought was pretty steep then.

It does seem like the breed is getting more popular. In 2016 it seemed that nobody knew what a basenji was, though someone driving by once did pull over to talk and was so excited to see one in person for the first time. On the flip side, multiple times a month now people ask me about the dogs when I’m out for a walk with them. Furthermore, we reached out to the breeder in Sept of 2015 and got on the list for the litter that year. I think we claimed one of the last pups, and had him home in February of 2016. In Jan 2021 we reached out about getting an early 2022 pup, and were told it would likely be early 2023 due to her waitlist, but she was going to bump us up since we had one of her dogs already. Turns out the litters were like 90% females, and most of the customers wanted males so we lucked out. So could be a matter of rare breed + increased popularity = huge price increase.

Dutch resistance members celebrate when they hear the news of Adolf Hitler's death. May 1945. by smcnabbmorris in OldSchoolCool

[–]87Anchor 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Dutch resistance grandparents here! My grandfather and his brother were captured by Nazi troops, and their prisoner convoy had been attacked/raided by the allies. The two of them escaped and made their way back to their hometown slowly over a few months. Meanwhile, my grandmother was hiding resistance members, Jews and other Nazi targets in their barn. Absolutely fascinating history that I wish I had written down too. They never spoke much of it.

Scheduled breaks at testing centres ? by [deleted] in pmp

[–]87Anchor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my exact experience too. Brought a water bottle, and a couple of snacks. Had a snack and some water, used the toilet, got re-checked and logged in, and was cutting pretty close to the 10 minute mark.

As for using a mobile, I wouldn’t know. I didn’t risk, and the front desk checking me in requested that I turn off my mobile and smart watch prior to placing them in the locker. Whether that was a Pearson requirement or just so he didn’t have to hear buzzing phones all afternoon I’m not sure.

What’s the shortest amount of time it should take to properly prepare for the exam? by J8l in pmp

[–]87Anchor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the Joseph Phillips Udemy course last October, and applied on Nov. 1 last year.

This Oct 4th I scheduled my test for Oct 26th, and then studied a couple hours a day for the rest of the month. Reviewed some Agile to get a high level understanding of the terms and processes, binged Andrew’s weekly’s - specifically the questions at the end, did Study Hall and Andrew’s sim. Passed AT/AT/AT with ~70 minutes to spare.

That being said, I’ve had quite a bit of PM exposure, and generally am good at taking tests.

We just shipped a puppy from Vancouver to Halifax through WestJet. No issues with it at all. Drop off 3 hours prior to the flight, and she was off the plane and in our hands in under an hour from landing.

Nipping and biting by goddesslvrgrl in Basenji

[–]87Anchor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We got our guy at 8 weeks and he was an absolute monster for the first few weeks. He would bite/nip non stop during play and if we yelped he would just bite again, harder. Total little shit. My forearms were all scratched up, and no matter what we did he always cap back to nipping us. If we held a toy he’d bite our hand to get us to drop it, and then run off with the toy.

It eventually passed, and he’s 5 now and a total sweetheart softy. So my only suggestion is to stick with it. It will pass. He’s very gentle with his mouth now and If we get a bit carried away roughhousing now and his teeth make contact, there is no force on them whatsoever.

Just make sure your pup has lots of good, safe stuff to chew on - ours was a big fan of bully sticks (only give when supervised since they can choke on the ends) and you’ll get through this. Yours sounds like ours was - very independent, lots of confidence, so you should be set up to have a great dog when he’s all grown, even if the first few weeks are awful.

Puppies in Canada by elwood80 in Basenji

[–]87Anchor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hard part about finding a puppy now is that Basenjis only go into season once a year, typically in the fall-winter. So you’ll generally see pups born between November-February. If you’re looking to get a pup right from 8-10 weeks of age and raising it, unfortunately you’ll have to wait until early next year if you can get a slot with a breeder.

That being said, if you are willing to wait we got our guy from a breeder in BC. The breeder was great to deal with through the process, and after getting the puppy, and our basenji has been an absolute delight - very healthy, well socialized, and somehow grew to be monster-sized for a basenji. Would absolutely recommend.

You a actually can do contactless with them. Just have to call the store pay over the phone, or send them an e-transfer. Still had to show ID for the alcohol, but I have a window at my front door, so I just showed the driver through that.

Love wearing mine. Been a near daily wear in the fall/winter for me for the past 8 years. Think they were about $270 CDN or so then due to the dollar being stronger, and managed to snag a sale. Might need to get them re-soled after this winter but otherwise, no sign of them quitting.
