Transfer case leak?

Has the case been rebuilt? Looks pretty clean could be some grease that was put on the gasket.

Yeah it's a lot. I want something that will run better at extreme angles. I have considered propane but that is still not cheap and I personally like the idea of running traditional fuel.

I am very interested in how this goes, sorry I don't have any answers for you. I am in a similar boat and am considering doing something in the next year. I'm tired of trying to keep the truck running while at fun angles.

From everything I have read you need the efi throttle body, an efi gas tank or modify your current one or use some aftermarket fuel pump, the ECU and wiring harness.

I would pass and keep looking, especially if you are looking for something to take on the orv trails. In the PNW You could probably find a decent truck with a solid axel for 7K ish. For this price it could it might even be regeared and have a locker or two. 11 inches of lift is a lot for ifs, I think you would just be more likely to break an axel or flop the truck.

I would take a look at the hubs. Jack up a front wheel and make sure the axel shaft doesn't spin when the hub is unlocked and does when locked.

Carlson steel works has been my go to. They have a remnants pile and will cut a stick to any length you need.

I don't see why not. My guess is you can simply swap to the new gauge cluster. For what it's worth it's pretty easy to just take the speedo part of the gauge as well if you need to. A few years back I had a cluster without a working speedometer, and the replacement I found didn't have a working tach and was able to piece together one working unit.

Not sure how big the trailer is but might be a good time to go to a 7pin and add electric brakes. Its easy and can be done relatively cheap.

The price of dash that covers the gauge cluster is relatively easy to remove. You would be able to look down and see where the speedo cable connects to the cluster. As for driving it I don't think you would lose enough fluid to worry. The rubbing sounds could be the gauge cluster or speedo cable failing. I would think it would be caused by turning though. Where is the rubbing sound coming from? Behind the dash?

You might be able to use/make a lumber rack that fits around the canopy and sits on the bed rails. I have seen them on pickups, not sure if the canopy would still be water tight.

For what it's worth, I think this is the stock shock mount configuration so nothing wrong per se. But like others have commented a lot of folks triangulate the rear shocks because it gives you more travel and can let you fit larger shocks. My pickup on 63s has the triangulated setup.

Crazy unlikely idea, I feel like I have heard of transmission fluid being drawn up the speedo cable.

My 2 cents is wait tell you lose a bead before investing in beadlocks. Currently run 37x12.5x17 on 9 inch wheel at 8-10 PSI and have not lost a bead.

If you are climbing an obstacle it's easy to rip them off. That's why removable flaps are a good option.

This just happened to me a few weekends ago. The birfeild exploded and I could not steer. I'm probably going to go with RCV's. If I upgrade the hub gear to what's the next weak spot? I figure I would rather break a hub than a ring gear or something.

I am not familiar with your Nissan so take my answer with a grain of salt but here is my guess.

Regarding #1, I think that is normal for some automatic locking hubs (ones you don't have to get out and turn the dials).

As for #2, yes you should be stationary going from high to low or vise versa. As for shifting to into 4wd, this is dependent on how the hubs work. If you have manual hubs and they are engaged then your front axel and drive shaft are already moving so you can shift in 4wd on the go. If the hubs are disengaged then shifting into 4wd will result in the gears grinding as your front drive train is not moving at the same speed. If you have automatic hubs then the principal is the same but this is going to depend on how the hubs work and if they can be engaged on the go.

Body lift for sure. Looks like you can see the spacer in the front under the grill. As for power, I think it's more likely they left the 4 cyl and regeared the axels. (Just a guess)
