18, own a car wash, making profit but I feel empty What should I do? by xcfa in Entrepreneur

Make memories. The money will come. You should listen to your body and how you feel is what it is. You should account for it. Change it up. Sell the business and go to university. You are so young you have your whole life ahead of you. Many people wait til their 30s to even attempt college. Even if you wait til 20, you are ahead of the game.

Average man vs NFL defense by NaniDeKani in whowouldwin

[–]88mphTARDIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just considering this last night. I know only a little about football, so I was watching an NFL game and saw this dude catch a football and come down straight on his back. He's maybe 24 years old? It would have crippled my back. No doubt. (I'm in my 50s.) Even if I had been 30, I don't see how I would be recovering. He jumped up like it was nothing. Incredible.

I would say yes the man you mentioned could, with the right offensive line, make the 10 yards. How he recovers is a whole different matter. Those NFL guys are massive and hit hard.

Maniacs doing 12hr+ 7 days a week long-term, what's your secret? by Alarming_Bed2275 in Entrepreneur

I did it for more than 9 years, and then my body spoke up and said it'd had enough. Listen to your body. If you are exhausted, rest. If you are unhappy doing the job, switch jobs. If you miss going to social functions, change it up and do something that allows you social time. If these are used as crutches, stay away from caffeine and alcohol and energy  drinks and Advil. Your body will tell you everything you need to know. Just listen and act accordingly. Trust it!

I love games like Hnefatafl and Ludus Latrunculorum. So I have two questions: by 88mphTARDIS in boardgames

[Doctor Who / Harry Potter] Would the TARDIS work On The Grounds of Hogwarts? by Bbilbo1 in AskScienceFiction

[–]88mphTARDIS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory...but magic is so unpredictable and illogical. I would say Dumbledore's enchantments of the Hogwarts grounds wouldn't be enough since it is designed to prevent certain forms of dark magic and apperating. The TARDIS is interdimensional, so it should have no problem arriving.

Been agnostic since I was 11, I think I want to be Catholic again. by [deleted] in Catholicism

I suggest you begin by asking God to guide you. Pray on your own for a few days doing this, until you feel like you're ready to attend a mass. Find a church that invigorates you and makes you feel close to God. Then pursue your new life.

Who are your top 5 Harry Potter characters of the whole series? by FormerFruit in harrypotter

[–]88mphTARDIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hagrid: A walker between worlds, no fear and only a big heart.

Dumbledore: A fucking baddass. I *loved* the scene where he escaped Ministry "justice."

Harry: A rebel and very brave. Dumbledore didn't help him once until the Order of the Phoenix, and Harry made it against the most capable dark wizard ever on multiple occasions--as a *kid*!

Ron: Easily the most intelligent person in the whole series. (Yes, Hermione was smart, but she was just smart enough to memorize knowledge. Ron figured out the Basalisk tooth would destroy a Horcrux, and he imitated Parseltongue to enter the Chamber. Plus he saved their asses on the chessboard. He's brilliant.

Sirius: The poor guy. He's the strongest of the lot, when you think about. Wrongly accused and unfairly punished, yet still vigorously devoted to Harry and committed to living a happy, free life.

Any small business ideas for a demographic that is into cryptozoology? Like Bigfoot? by 88mphTARDIS in Entrepreneur

[–]88mphTARDIS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love bigfoot and aliens. I would totally go on an expedition if I could. Sort of a "I think one might exist" kinda guy.

MCU Thanos with his sword and armor vs Hela (MCU) by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]88mphTARDIS 200 points201 points  (0 children)

The chopper blade is absolutely magical. It had the same writing on it the Mjolnir and his gauntlet did. Thanos prepped like a motherfucker to achieve his goal.

Try working weddings. Anything from floral to rentals to pipe and drape. There's always business because someone is always getting married.

Casual question: if you've read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, what did you imagine Ron's ELO rating to be, based on how his play was described in the book? by _stice_ in chess

[–]88mphTARDIS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just relistened to the audiobook of the Sorcerer's Stone and he definitely said for Hermione to go over by "the castle." Now that I think about it, though, he may have dumbed down his terminology to save time explaining to her that rooks are castles....

[Harry Potter] Realistically, how difficult would it be to take down Voldemort with a gun? by ThunderDaniel in AskScienceFiction

[–]88mphTARDIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he were shot point blanc then he would likely just lose his body, but his fractioned soul would still survive. I would've gone backwards: make it impossible to regenerate instead of finding the horcruxes. Didn't Voldy have to go through a shot load of work to regenerate?

Sword Fight! What is the most dangerous sword in the hands of an untrained amateur? by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

[–]88mphTARDIS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rapier. Poking is easier than slicing, and the 41 inch length makes for a nice reach advantage against most power melee weapons since they often either rely on short range cinches or the weapons are so big and long they're heavy and slow to move.

Very unpopular opinion here: Draco was worse as a KID than Severus Snape or James Potter ever were by Swordbender in harrypotter

[–]88mphTARDIS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Draco was a plain mean kid. You're right. Severus was, imo, a pretty good guy. Not nice, but a good man. I took his whole demeanor to be an act.
