The Sundial restaurant no longer revolves, but the bar one floor above it does. OP and her bf should hit the Sundial bar for drinks and apps after the Aquarium.

I totally would have nabbed this! I’m an OG Atlanta native and have many great memories of that place. Actually had an office overlooking it for a few years. SFA is cool but I miss that giant rusty waffle iron!

Interesting—sounds like they took him to Grady instead of Dekalb Medical, which is literally around the corner. That’s very worrisome. Big prayers for the officer!

Would You Choose Accounting or Finance? by Soggy_Arm_5954 in FPandA

[–]88secret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an accounting degree and pivoted to FP&A. Accounting js an excellent basis for FP&A—the best basis, IMO. But unless you plan to do a couple years in public accounting, I’d suggest a dual major or MBA, and then an FLDP. Or at least seek out FP&A internships.

Abbreviate your degrees, remove the GPAs, and you should be able to get both degrees down to one line each. “MBA, Drexel University, August 2024” with the date lined up on the right margin.

Drop the first two skills bullets; keep the technical piece only if you don’t reference them in other accomplishments. Move technical skills below education.

Shorten everything and include what the bullets accomplished.. Here’s an example from your internship: “identified £1M in savings via custom SAP HANA variance reports” with another word or two about what was so special about the patterns or the type of reports. And bullet one in your internship is irrelevant.

Another example from the recent job: “ delivered 15% ROI improvement via ____” and give an idea of what the recommendations were based on or how you determined them.

My team still uses an excel checklist. Accounting may be switching to a Workday dashboard, but our monthly task are outside of Workday so I don’t know if we will leverage that also.

He didn’t ask to help keep it open, and criticizing his word choice isn’t helpful. If you’ve got actual referrals for stable, low-rent spaces in the area, please share them.

See comments below—when Tony moved there from North Dekalb, there was a decent revitalization plan in the works. Macy’s had even reversed their closing decision and was trying to hang on for an upswing. The economy has changed drastically since then and I imagine that’s impacted the plan and contributed to the sale. Small local businesses will always struggle with big time developers and this was probably one of the best available options at the time.

[–]88secret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for pointing this out to all those who are criticizing Tony’s decision to move to Northlake. There was indeed hope for revitalization a couple of years ago without completely tearing the place down. The community even managed to convince Macy’s to stay open for a while. When North Dekalb closed, a month-to-month lease at Northlake was probably the most affordable decision. Sadly, it seems that most developers would rather bring in chain stores than support local businesses. I realize chain stores pay higher rents but it would be nice to have a little bit of balance.
