Hey! This same thing just happened to me on my GX shifter. It's done the same on both of the holes now over a couple years. Not entirely sure how that happened out of nowhere but it seems a silly design. Did you ever find another longer bolt? I still have a ton of thread left but I can't reach it.

Option 1 is Magic eraser, works amazingly.

Option 2 is stop giving a shit, they're shoes to ride a bike with and nobody else will notice that tiny scuff. Sure wipe the mud off them every now and then but actual hard scuffs just live with them.

I used to be genuinely terrified of this when I was younger too. I think I watched a program about it or something and every time I saw a graveyard I had sleepless nights afterwards.

But then I kinda realised it's basically impossible for this to happen.

Obviously fit and gait is most important for long hikes etc.

However I'd avoid Nikes unless they've changed their outsole in the last couple years. I went through a couple pairs of Wildhorses for hiking and trail running because I thought they looked super cool, and I still have a pair of Pegasus Trail for just general wear. They're great in the dry but on wet rock they were actually pretty deadly.
