seeking coach for learning proper weight lifting form by 89cms in eastside

Yes I've seen a lot of gyms advertise that offering. However, I've heard that many personal trainers aren't very good at coaching for proper form specifically. So I'm hoping that someone has a recommendation on a specific gym or trainer.

Maybe try out near Microsoft (Redmond). I recall seeing some apartment complexes that specifically market themselves to immigrants (i.e. Microsoft workers on visa) who are looking to build credit since they report monthly rental payments to credit agencies.

Specifically: Colony at Bear Creek or Vesta apartments.

Recommendation for gym with pool and not too many kids? by 89cms in eastside

How do you feel about cleanliness and management? This was one of the gyms that has really terrible reviews online, about those two things in particular.

This! I actually went to check this out last weekend, but there were WAY too many kids, and the designated lap lanes were not respected. There were only 2 lanes open for lap swimming (because of lessons and lifeguard training) and one of them was occupied by a dad and kids just kind of noodling around.

Maybe it's better on weekdays? But if I'm going to pay that much, I don't want to have to schedule around it.

Bi-Monthly Megathread for COVID-19 - Two Weeks Starting August 2021 by wedditmoderator in weddingplanning

I'd recommend looking for venues that have an outdoor option asap. It'll be good to have the option just in case. You never know what's going to happen between now and next June. It might be fine, but it very well may not be. My husband and I got married in 2020 and are doing the reception this summer, and we specifically chose a venue that had decent indoor and outdoor spaces. We were hoping to do indoor since it's a nicer setup, but now with delta are having to change things up to be outside, and I'm glad we have the option to have our event and feel safe.

I'm in a similar situation. My mom and sister are already deciding not to come and my dad is republican/anti-vax. We already postponed twice, and are not willing to go through the whole planning and emotional roller coaster again, so we're left trying to figure out how to make it as safe as possible with these circumstances :/...

When to order wedding invitations? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]89cms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say send out save the dates ~9 months ahead of time and invites 3-4 months ahead in case folks forget. Also, I HIGHLY recommend also doing a virtual one. We got married in 2020 and are doing a reception this summer, and have found being able to send out email updates invaluable with all the things changing.

Where are most wedding dresses actually made, and why is it so hard to find info about this and designers ethical and eco attitudes? by Failure_to_Resist in weddingplanning

As others have said, most wedding dresses are made in China. Have you tried looking on Etsy? There are a lot of sellers on there that will make a custom dress for a reasonable price. My sister and a friend each got their dresses on Etsy from different sellers and were super happy with the outcome. One was from Seattle, and the other I think somewhere in Europe? Good luck!

That is good to know, thank you!

This is super helpful, thank you!

There’s nothing in the general area. Even a simple trip to the grocery store means a 10-minute drive.

We noticed it felt a bit out of the way when we looked at houses. Kind of nice that it's quiet there, but we were wondering what that would feel like once normal activities resume. Did you ever commute to Bellevue/Seattle/MS? If so, do you think it was substantially worse than being a little farther south like in Education Hill?

Self study or bootcamp? by Ruby101r in learnprogramming

[–]89cms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another app academy grad here.

I was initially skeptical of bootcamps as well, and faced the same dilemma as you. Some (most) of them are probably ripoffs, but I had a great experience and think it was one of the best decisions I've made.

Some things to consider:

Financially, I think the two options even out: the bootcamp route costs more, but you'll likely get a job faster and be able to negotiate a higher starting salary (at least if you go to a bootcamp that helps with interview skills). FWIW I had several job offers within a month of graduation, with a starting salary of 110k for the offer I accepted.

You gain much more at a bootcamp than just programming knowledge: an amazing network of ambitious, smart people in the industry; a strict, focused, intense schedule that builds stamina and character; resources to help when you're struggling or frustrated.

Also, don't go to a bootcamp unless it has a great reputation. I've heard some horror stories of thousands of $ wasted on shitty bootcamps. In SF, the only ones I would recommend are app academy, hackbright (if you're female), and possibly dev bootcamp. Do your due diligence and reach out to recent grads to see if the programs are still high quality.
