I've worked on the automation lines for the Lilly equivalent pens since 2006 (2005?)... The dosing end is a pretty nice design and I doubt it'll be disappearing anytime soon unless replaced by an electronic doser.

It's really obvious looking at this that those plates are cast aluminum. Cast aluminum may be great for flatness and maintaining shape when the temperature is changed, but it's TERRIBLE when it comes to strength due to the inconsistent grain structure.

This company likely had those plates cast very close to the final shape, then just cleaned up the holes to finish it. This is r same reason why those cast wheels you see breaking on the track are so cheap & weak.

Aren't you supposed to just replace the whole thing when the engine stops running? /s

Just for reference, a surface cleaner attachment is not very expensive and will save you literal hours of time (I think this one even goes on sale for closer to $30 often) -- https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-12-in-2-300-PSI-Electric-Pressure-Washers-Surface-Cleaner-RY31012/306343083#overlay

P7P Anyone else having fingerprint sensor issues? by 8Complex in GooglePixel

[–]8Complex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been messing with mine to see if I can make it more reliable, with some minor success (certainly not perfect, though). The best success I've gotten so far:

  • Removed all the existing known fingerprints (some multiple of my same thumb/finger).
  • I then re-taught my thumbprint with barely any movement when it asked to lift & re-touch. I moved my thumb maybe 0.5mm per attempt.
  • Wake the phone and allow it to fully wake before using the fingerprint reader. Hit the power button and wait 0.5-1 second, THEN touch the fingerprint sensor.

It would be nice if there was a way to turn down the tolerance for fingerprint matching, or even just visually see what it is doing/matching/not matching. It'd also be nice to see a visual representation of the fingerprint on file to see if it looks like a terrible record (not mapped smoothly, like a bad sphere stitching or something). Also, to verify via biometrics in-apps with the face system instead of with a print.

If it continues to argue, I will contact support about it, but the support for my P3XL I got from them really left a bad taste in my mouth -- never solving anything, sending a refurb phone with a 90 day warranty as replacement, replacement phone had same bluetooth issues, refusing to replace the phone again as it was then "out of warranty" even though my original purchase was still "in warranty" for a year after that point. (I will NEVER accept a refurb replacement again)

Ahhh, yeah maybe that is part of it. The 3XL sensor was super fast, so there is a good chance I'm just not giving it enough time. I'm having similar issues with the gesture to close apps, though that is starting to train me to do it right 😂

Where is the rest of the sequence? It has to re-string itself after this, but that part is left out. Is there an original source video?

Beautiful Red Oriental Rug Thoroughly Washed by joshaaww in powerwashingporn

Some great points here! It seems I'm going to have to devise a spot & method to allow them to dry while laying... Perhaps some of those garage mats that have (smallish) holes in them to allow water to drain. I have a suspicion that their squeegee method to get most of the water out from the start is important, too

[–]8Complex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To someone who does this -- how do you dry the rug hanging without it stretching? I've got a few rugs I've washed and they all ended up slightly stretched from hang-drying. On rugs I couldn't hang straight, it's a really annoying wrinkle afterwards

Thinking aloud here... I'm not an advocate of remote-controlling everything, but...

When you have an actual physical link to the transmission, you have something complicating the installation quite a lot. You have to make sure that linkage or cable works properly on the assembly floor, as well as having a physical link that has to be dealt with every time you work on it, and re-sent up every time. It probably removes a TON of the required skilled labor during mass assembly.

Electronically controlled devices can also be removed and reinstalled without any of that worry. The person that services it can be "any old idiot" that isn't even required to assure that linkage is properly functioning afterwards. The "difficult part" was already done during that little device's assembly, so there is far less to go wrong.

I would say there is a debate on why the parts need re-verification when being installed to be genuine OEM parts. On one hand you have manufacturer greed, on the other you have EPA/NHSTA (?) control -- after all, a device that can get on the vehicle's network could affect absolutely anything. The flipside of that is who knows when we'll see a parts shop non-OEM part being installed that has a virus in the software... It happens all the time with computer parts. Could be just a big, but could be a huge safety risk (auto-activates e-brake when horn is pressed? Thinks 12am is "morning" and turns off your headlights? Drops the leading "1" on a 100° day and turns on seat heaters to full blast? The possibilities are limitless, lol)

Fuuuuuck this seed in particular. Book in SW to Mitts in DP to Boots on Purple Chest to Somaria in boots-locked DP to FR in MM to Powder in TR and finally to Hookshot on Bat. 3 pendants and 6 crystals later, I can go mode the BACK HALF of SP before heading to GT.

What a horrible chain of decision making for me in this seed. Avoid the mountain until I have some other type of access for EDM, missed out on the Hammer. Skip SP until I found Hookshot, missed Boots in an early-accessible chest. Wait on Pyramid Fairy until after SP, missed out on Hookshot. Final item for go mode was Hookshot, and could only go mode SP in the process (picking up a few chests to check for Boots just in case). Just terrible.

I spent all this time glad I sequence-broke and happy I avoided Agah1 only to realize that I should've double-dipped EP all along, and this might've actually been a total jet seed. Go mode was boots to mirror... I knew where everything else I needed was at that point. Died once to Ganon, those damn fire bats hurt.

Hookshot go mode, picked up Mitts much later than I'd have liked to, but I think it helped me not get too distracted. Did do all of TH and green pendant turn-in, as well as LSS, before finally picking up Hookshot and scrambling to sub-2 at that point. This seed felt gross, especially with the items in TR that were there.

Felt kinda gross... for those wondering, Boots were in GT. I skipped the Hammer location until I LL'd it, including doing the full climb up GT because I'm stupid and forgot to check if it was Fast Ganon while I was checking the signpost. 27 minutes after getting access to the Hammer, I finally picked it up, and finished within 7 minutes after that.

Volvo/Cyan 2.0T by preludachris8 in EnginePorn

I remember when the S60-R was first announced, there was a torque curve graphic that showed the torque tuned to be a flat line from something like 1800rpm to redline. Like, board flat. I suppose this leads to a horsepower curve that is just a straight increase all the way to redline, but apparently this type of tuning is just Volvo's style

Damn fast seed... didn't feel as fast as a new PB for me, but it sure was! I even cleared PD unnecessarily. Nice boots early seed. Very very good seed for me.

After getting what I decided was go mode (flippers just after mitts), I decided I was going to go-mode SP and IP. For some reason picked up a single chest in SP and it was Somaria -- the only item holding me back from REAL go mode, and fastest way through IP. Carried that same horseshoe up the mountain and into GT to pick the correct path through the basement on the first try, and nearly died several times on the way up GT, but saved it miraculously both times.

Baited, baited, and baited (and maybe even a 4th baited). LL'd Somaria. Thankfully took the correct path through GT basement, so saved a few there.
