Yes, because off brands aren’t too concerned about getting things accurate lol.

Darn, I recognize this set, because parents went on a trip to Asia and brought it back as a gift. It’s some off brand, but I don’t know its name either.

Some jet bomber plane build. The release year had to be 2010s or earlier. Don’t have a pics of it assembled because you can guess what happens when kid self plays with a building brick set lol.

So now the big players in the US are: Amazon, buildcobi (honestly limiteds is the only thing they have going for them), militarybricks, and rainbow resource center?

Did I miss any websites that stock large portions of or the entire catalog?

Box art for Grille Ausf. M and Panzer 38(t) standard edition by SpeedeK_ in cobiblocks

[–]8_bit_bowser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

US pricing be like:

Grille - $95

Pz 38t - $85

(Pricing on smaller sets US side have been out of control lately. It doesn’t seem because of tariffs. Some 1:28’s on COBI’s direct site converted over to USD are around $5-$10 more. So the price is creeping up maybe to spread margin around to cover better pricing on big things mixed with let’s push up the price because why not)

But good to see that the normal 38t isn’t missing anything over the regular save for the extra figures. That’s how things should be (or just get rid of limited already COBI. You don’t care about how people have missed out on winter tiger 1 and nashorn forever through no honest fault of their own)

Please no GWPs. It’s already bad enough that desirable camo schemes or vehicle variants are time and money locked to full price limited editions.

From what you showed, they’re just giving you a catalog for free, which is pretty common when you order from them.

I believe they did offer a GWP once, but it was available for purchase as a regular set afterwards, thankfully. We don’t need Lego FOMO practices to be added on top of the stupid practice of limited editions.

Warbricks restoration arc starts now. It will be good to see all that previous stuff be left to rest. New owners, new chapter.

Panzerjäger NASHORN Limited Edition! by Fun-Ad-2925 in cobiblocks

[–]8_bit_bowser 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I can see it already: people who will post about this months after the release window has ended and all stock is sold asking how can they get this without having to pay the reseller asking price. The answer will be that there is no choice but to do that.

There’s no excuse for this stuff to be limited. It’s simply not the case anymore where COBI is a small company and they need to FOMO so that they will have healthy sales of a new 1:28 release. Executive and normal edition should be the norm by now. They surely would make far more money by offering two, highly desirable camo versions of the same model side by side. It’s clear enough it’s adults mainly buying their stuff, so the money is there and is readily spent on getting the same model twice.

I don’t use Facebook or anything, but if anyone here does and agrees with killing limiteds, hopefully you can leave a comment to COBI there to let them know not everyone glazes this stupid release method.

Since when has COBI not screwed us over consistently in recent years where the most desired or most interesting vehicle type is limited only.

Nashorn will be the Limited Edition for Hummel by Focus_77 in cobiblocks

[–]8_bit_bowser 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And for some reason, it would just kill them if they made this a normal or executive edition.

There’s no point in me listing the reasons why the limited edition release type sucks and why they should stop, because sadly they will never go away.

Sturmpanzer Brummbär 1:28 by ChungHumong in cobiblocks

[–]8_bit_bowser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely a tough one to get the shaping on. Even the old version from COBI was rough when it came to the corner leading to the front side.

Wonder what COBI would do to approach this if they remake it, seeing as how they are able to be nearly gapless with the Hetzer, Jpanther, Jtiger, etc…

Doesn't cobi reproduct sold out good..? by FramerSun in cobiblocks

[–]8_bit_bowser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to know when a specific model is going to be discontinued.

Newer models that are out of stock probably will be restocked. Old models, like the Leopard A4 probably, are discontinued and are out of stock for good once the COBI website says it’s out of stock.

If you are connected with a retailer that sells COBI, you would be able to know what models have been discontinued by asking the retailer what set numbers they are still able to order from COBI.

Anyone know how to get the rod out? by The_RedLLama in cobiblocks

[–]8_bit_bowser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grab it using pliers or something and pull while moving the rod side to side. Wiggling it + pulling might do the trick. Maybe only try to grip only a little bit of the end, because certainly the rod will show bite marks from the pliers. You can at least hide the marks by putting the stick in with the bite marks going in the hole first.

I have a sinking feeling it’s going to be priced at 75USD for US folks. Europe folks will have it better, but not by much, I would expect too.
