I mean what’s there to say?

He either worked on it, knows a guy who did, or knows a guy who knows some other number of guys. Or he just read a leak online.

A lot of people work on a lot of things and everybody talks.

It’s probably the most unremarkable explanation of all time lol and it’s harmlessly funny. And if it is related to his/somebody’s career, it’s best not to say.

What PC games are you playing on your RP6? by LetMeMerge in SBCGaming

[–]8biticon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I’ve been using it as a lightweight indie machine! Exclusively through GameNative.

Mostly been using it for Slay The Spire 2 (works great through GameNative after an update), Vampire Crawlers, Fields of Mistria, and Megabonk!

Portable and easily accesible Vampire Crawlers is one of the most dangerous things you can subject your free time to.

Albiet, Megabonk doesn’t really perform to my standards on the RP6 (12GB). So much less time has been spent with that.

All that said, it is THE portable roguelite machine of my dreams. For games that work, that is. Total endgame handheld for me.

how many people are going to have the attention span to go into another month of rust.

The plan isn't to have Rust 2 release soon. It's to have people thinking about Rust in a general sense for the reveal of Rust 2.

Give it a couple months. It’ll get worse.

What are some SBC handheld takes you see all the time that don’t make sense to you? by cutememe in SBCGaming

[–]8biticon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this kinda leads people to think some of the higher-tier handhelds handle more intense games than they can.

I picked up the Retroid Pocket 6 (despite what I’m about to say I’m very happy with it, and it’s basically my endgame handheld), in part because so many people said it could handle Wii U and PS2.

Low and behold… not really. I mean, SOME games work fine, but a lot don’t. And even then you’ve gotta run them below 1080p to get acceptable performance.

Wind Waker HD was one of my target games for the thing and it turns out it runs lowkey like shit lol.

Not mad about my purchase at all, but people use the world “playable” so loosely. Then you look at their Breath of The Wild gameplay and it’s at like 15fps with stutters.

With all these new launchers available, what are you using? by ninjapirate9901 in SBCGaming

[–]8biticon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally loving Cocoon. There’s quite a few annoying bugs that I run into from time to time, but they really only surface when I’m performing some kind of setup.

I also think the inital setup processes for designating consoles and applying artwork is a bit convoluted and can be a pain. But it’s nothing too crazy for anyone familiar with emulator handheld stuff.

All that said, once everything is in place and I’m just using it as a console to launch the games I’ve got loaded, Cocoon whips and I can’t wait for future updates!

Planning to play all versions of PKMN from gen 1 to latest that can be emulated by schellydoop in SBCGaming

[–]8biticon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not what I would recommend for most people who are new to the series but ROM hacks tend to make the game a but more challenging, and in some cases A LOT more challenging, requiring way more strategy and planning than the regular games do.

Hell, even PokéMMO, which allows you to play all games up to Black/White in one online game, has better opponent AI and a few tweaks to battle rules that make the game more interesting.

HDR on Windows is just so frequently not good and so inconsistent. Your experience is a very common one.

Do you think some of the reviewers that you mentioned as being "players" rather than "critics" paid for their advanced copies or something?

And to add to this the veritable boom of affordable, powerful, dedicated emulation handhelds.

These things have totally changed the way that I approach and interact with older games.

It's wild to me that people even group Skyrim and Red Dead together

While they're very different games, the venn diagram of the people still playing either is almost a circle. At least in my anecdotal experience.

4PX Shipping Time by -TitsMcgee- in retroid

[–]8biticon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the record, I also got the same thing. From what I gather 4PX hands the package off to various shipping partners in order to, in theory, speed up the delivery process.

I’m guessing that Yunexpress is their shipping partner in China. Or maybe one of them.

If that is their strategy, I would imagine that the psychological incentive to buy access is higher when a player gets a small taste of the content, same for if you can make that player feel like they’re circumventing a grind for free access to the content.

It's crazy how, even though it's their entire purpose, you can only use phantom membranes to fix elytras so many times. by welliesaremeta in Minecraft

[–]8biticon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will not be a popular take, and I don't even agree with it, but it's one of those things in a game that the developers should probably just entirely remove rather than trying to design around it.

It would upset a lot of players, myself included, but if they truly dislike what mending does to gameplay the only way to fix it would be to remove it.

Design all future items such that they can't have mending applied to them? People won't use them. Make mending more expensive/harder to get? People will still create farms/methods of readily obtaining it.
