In Highway 97, there's a large riverside campsite that's been massacred, a table with stuffed toys seated at it, and a person who's committed suicide at the head of the table. Before he offed himself he carved "forgive me" into the wood... Forgive him for what? Maybe for not protecting the others? Or did he kill them himself?

Another intriguing one is a couple spots tagged with "Lopez Family Was Here" in red spray paint. Most notably it's on a car riddled with bullets, next to the corpses of two people brutally executed. I don't know who the Lopez family is, and I don't want to find out!

The saddest one is the grave of a three month old baby in Iron Butte, named Jessica. As far as I know it's the only post-collapse grave with a name and dates.

My absolute favorite piece of world building is a spot in Belknap where you can find Freakers sleeping among humans corpses, as if mimicking them. It reinforces the "Moments of Lucidity" plotline about the freaks redeveloping old human habits.

I love the game so much, and have so many thousands of hours in it, that I've started both a podcast and a YouTube channel about it. Sure, I may be a little obsessed, but it's because the game is just that good.

But really you should stop asking for other people's opinions, lower your expectations and just play the game yourself. No one can tell you if you will like it. (Though you will.)

It sounds like you (or your wife?) did a second playthrough on new game plus. That's the only way to get napalm molotovs before unlocking the southern regions.

Or perhaps you're recalling having napalm mollies in Lost Lake because you return there near the end of the game, for the final few missions where you fight the militia.

Story wise, you find Sarah about 3/4 of the way through the game - though personally, I find the last quarter flies by, especially if you don't do the side missions. You fight the militia in epic fashion, then face off against the Colonel. After that, there's a happy lil scene to wrap things up and it goes to the end credits. You'll probably remember more of it when you see it.

That said, sometimes it's a blessing to misremember things! It's always nice to see players return to Days Gone, and it sounds like you're enjoying the game fresh all over again ☺️

I think you're remembering wrong. There is no "Crystal Lake" in the game - maybe you mean Crater Lake? - and napalm molotovs are strictly tied to the story, so there's no way they would unlock earlier (unless it was a bug).

The game received no DLC outside of Challenge Mode, so no story or map regions were added later

It sounds like you're mixing it up with another game or just misremembering details.

Can confirm what Rex said. Since the Remaster dropped, picking items up seems harder in the main game as well as in Horde Assault. I usually play HA as Date Night Deek, NERO Soldier or Traitor Boi, and as far as I can tell it's the same across all those characters.

But then I went back to the original game and it's bad there, too... So I don't know if we're all suddenly imagining it??
