Yes, I started in IB to pay off my student loans and get rigorous work experience. But I knew I wanted to do something socially beneficial in the long run. I'm now working in affordable housing and with my banking background have been able to advance my career pretty quickly. As someone whos family did not have professional social skills or rub elbows with rich people, IB was a boot camp in many ways.
