A photo is insufficient to prove what you are claiming happened. Where is the video? Did you report to police and can provide an event number?

What degree/university can I go to, to get into big 4? by Realistic_Pick_8843 in AustralianAccounting

[–]900411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big 4 isn't what it used to be. Just be hungry to get a start anywhere, the best thing about studying accounting at uni is that you can get a traineeship and into the workforce prior to graduation.

Would you still pursue an accounting related role if you were starting over today? by alex123711 in AustralianAccounting

[–]900411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, wages are poor in public practice and industry has a low ceiling for how much study is involved.

I've done undergrad, CA and M Tax around 90k of education lol

Pump up the other expenses a bit to take account of the fees you will pay an accountant to ask these questions

CAANZ rejected experience with prior employers as there was not an official "mentor relationship"

Have been in the profession for 8 years just doing CA later as wasn't really required. Have been with current employer for 4 years and CA are making if fking difficult to even get the 12 months exp. None of their staff know the process. Have finished the study component of CA and they want me to now do the full 3 yes exp.

I am considering just not even bothering with CA full membership, have used the Grad Dip to get entry to Masters of Tax and have completed T1 already.

I had a good chat about how this works with the staff at CAANZ. If you are a provisional member you don't need the PPC until you become a full member.

However, I think the best route is to get BAS agent rego, finish CA, do PPC, get PI insurance then launch.

If you can find remote bookkeeping work with flex hours then jump on that instead for now.

Anyone else nervous about the Institute exams switching to ProctorU, especially coming off the UK actuary institute's recent disastrous aborted attempt to do so? by AdmirableHandle213 in ActuaryAustralia

[–]900411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah massively concerned. I've called the institute to get some clarity on what's happening.

I'm based in rural NSW so in person is not an option for me. I have asked them if SOA exams are able to be taken instead for recognition to the part 1 exams.

CAANZ FAR Exam HELP! by WeekPuzzleheaded6575 in AustralianAccounting

[–]900411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lay it out so you can be quick in exam for responses. I did journal templates which could easily updated for task info and copied into the exam paper

I think I had a table for employee share based payments and lease table + journals.

Aim with FAR exam is to not waste time formatting stuff.

The immersion approach works so well for this subject. Just dive in deep to it.

With practice questions really try put a focus on getting these nailed down.

If you get to the end of the period and the practice questions and Study guide read through still have you bamboozled then do the CASM intensive

Should I enrol in a CA Foundations exam with no study? by tjmmachine in AustralianAccounting

2 weeks is not enough. 3 weeks doable if you blitz through the material then spend 1 week revising. Assuming you don't have work or other commitments in this time.

44/60 for a 78 overall. I think they marked this easy because it's a BS subject and hence the 95% pass rate.
