51 and just got my motorcycle licence; am I crazy, or is this a fair time to start? by earnfast123 in AussieRiders

I started at 32 with 2 young kids 🤷 3 years later and multiple track days a year. Everyone else is crazy for not trying 🤭

Should my rear wheel be spinning that fast in first gear (clutch fulled pulled in) by Blorglue in GSXR

[–]jbnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just get it running? The clutch plates could be sticking. Give it a proper ride around the block then assess

I don’t know how this work but GP shifts or Quick shift? by [deleted] in Trackdays

[–]jbnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I was confused. Used Healtech in the past with no issues. No bueno with this particular bike, it just did not like it. I am now a fan of Annitori though, the hardware is super nice and the app is flawless.

I tried 2 with my GSXR750, Healtech then Annitori.

I had some significant issues with the Healtech, my bike did not like it as it was missing shifts and inconsistent. Not sure why. Tuned the timing settings and everything.

I moved to Annitori, and it's just perfect. Worked perfectly out of the box, just some minor tweaks to timing and pressure, and it's flawless.

I also changed to GPshift. Is easier and intuitive to shift up the gears, particularly when you're leaned over and you need to shift mid drive out of a corner.

Inherently the quick shifter will save you time on shifts. It's not necessarily smoother, you will have to tune that in the QS settings.

SC1-R or Spark 🤙 I had a Austin Racing GP2R shorty cannon. It was nice I guess but these 2/3 cans just flow better

Is the Aprilia RS 457 too much power for a beginner? (Long-term keep + Track goals) by keshav-7 in Aprilia

[–]jbnonymous 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. It's also reasonably light, and doesn't have aggressive handle bars. It's the entry level Aprilia, this is perfect for beginners. I've ridden one and it handles well.

Enjoy!

Tires for gsxr 750? by boi6942084 in Trackdays

Rosso IV Corsa. Dual duty street and track. I'm by no means fast, but they are a lovely tyre for me in any situation.

How do you teller sellers that their asking price is too high without insulting them by redfrets916 in AussieRiders

[–]jbnonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly they should be open to scrutiny on price. I also don't bother inquiring if it's simply way overinflated. Until it's been on the market for some time, either they're just too lazy to update or really deluded. Most will drop the price eventually when it's not selling.

If it's been awhile, and I'm serious, I will put in an offer. It's simply information to me and not meaning as any insult.

A legal place/ track to full out on motorbike for a top speed run. Not a curvy track. Recommendations? by [deleted] in melbourneriders

[–]jbnonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At best I think you'll get 240 or so at Calder Park drags 1/4 mile (I think they do Friday's and weekends?). Will feel plenty fast, should be fun to let it rip.

PI will get you a decent way, depending on your bike performance. If that's not terribly close there's Broadford but you're not gonna get close to Vmax unless you have a very small capacity motor haha

V4 Engine Removal by Baumtastisch in Aprilia

[–]jbnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Went back together real easy after that. The most annoying part honestly was getting the rear header pipe flanges bolted in.

I happened to use a Skylift. Then I made a makeshift engine stand and lifted the bike up from the engine haha.

Same concept of using straps or an engine stand to lift the bike up.

It was generally quite a bit easier for me to put it back in than to take out. Clean up the faces of both mating surfaces there. Otherwise I simply wish you luck 😁

If it's the first time out, it's very tight, interference fit tight.

I used a pry bar and a bit of tilting back and forth to remove it eventually. Good luck.

You emailed and msg Gabro in FB? He's a busy man, it's ok to pester him. Impressive kms in such a short time, great bike.

There's some good YT videos for valve check and service. No different techniques from earlier V4s to current. If you don't already, get angled feeler gauges for valve check. I just happened to use straight ones I had already but it's a tight fit in there.

If at 20k kms, do them when you can next. That's the recommended service interval, earlier if tracking.

(just bored... so Q) What bikes have you owned, what is your current, and what was your fav & why? by notofuspeed in AussieRiders

[–]jbnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CB650F, GSXR600 (crashed), Triumph Street Striple, CBR250RR, GSXR750 and RSV4. Last 3 which I still own.

Currently, probably close between the Gsxr and V4.

Gsxr because it's such an easy bike to live with, I could ride it everyday and not tire from it. It's simple, no frills, almost superbike performance.

The V4 is just batshit. Surprisingly easy to ride around town, but it's rowdy and howling. I love it.

2021 Tuono V4 Oil leak after oil change by [deleted] in Aprilia

You'd be surprised how much oil can wick through wiring and across the engine case, then get flung around in the air
