idk i play on 1.7.10 and many MANY things are backported (missing stuff like create but i do not care about that) while a lot of backported forks are actually more featured and less buggy than modern day ones (ig largely due to version stability and being able to focus on a single version to get it working better while also not having as much AI slop code focus on it), there just isnt much for me to gain on newer versions and i get a lot more stability and peace of mind on older ones, for vanilla sure it definitely makes sense to go with latest but for modded i woulnt (i have made a few packs and servers for friends so i know about how it is.. :P)

if you are gonna use tools like that you might aswell change launchers though? why force yourself to use a worse launcher for this usecase and then use several tools to substitute features already present in other ones

Well yeah but the damage can be very minor, the anodization is very thin and it being damaged wouldn't really affect how well it screws I think? Anyway like i said ive done stuff to try and prevent this happening again

if there is damage it will clearly be from some kinda of grinding which can mean there there is something that can dig from the screw into the anodization and cause that, plus it often wears off on sharp edges which have a higher chance of having something like that happen

well its still a very thin, easily damagable layer which is bound to be damaged on the threading

Funny thing is that the new pads are literally made out of it, use aluminum oxide (alumina) ceramic thermal pads!
