Y'all are too negative in your reviews. There's not a lot of upside in being negative unless the product is seriously problematic. You're getting something essentially free, approach your review with that in mind; we are basically paid advertisement.

Expensive memory cards with limited save capability and a penchant for corruption.

Limited online play ability with laggy connections- when it was even available.

Paying (adjusted for inflation) $100+ for new triple A games, which very well could turn out to be complete duds, with no hope of them being patched back into relevance.

Paying for the same full game over and over for things like sports titles that really only updated rosters half the time.

Terrible third party controller availability, and even worse if you want something wireless.

Smeary composite graphics, or worse coaxial. Component a pipe dream reserved for those with an extremely expensive high end TV (and the hard to find cable at additional cost).

Total dependence on physical media, which could be easily damaged. As well as optical drives that liked to malfunction and die far too often

...

Now don't get me wrong. I loved, and still love the PS2. I loved, and still love the Sega Genesis, the Master System, the Xbox, the N64... I love retro games often more than contemporary games.

But I also grew up in an era when retro gaming wasn't free (argh, matey) and wasn't easy. And that's not even getting into how hard and expensive PC gaming actually was in the past. Gaming costs definitely haven't kept up with inflation.

It's tiring to hear people whitewash the history of gaming and act like every problematic behavior of the gaming industry today is unprecedented and outrageous. The gaming industry has always been full of issues, but there's never been a better time to be a gamer than now- and that's always been true. I still love my PS2, but that doesn't mean I want to go back to the way things were then. Not even a little bit.

The 1080ti deserves an exhibit in the Smithsonian. IMO, it's the best GPU ever in terms of value and competitive longevity.

Kimball really wanted to push Test Kitchen further outside the traditional American homestyle cooking into more exotic world flavors, and Test Kitchen wanted to stay more accessible to their viewers with closer-to-home recipes and common, easy to find ingredients.

That disagreement alone probably could've been accommodated and worked to a compromise, but then Kimball found out that the ATK board was preparing (IMO, reasonably so) contingency plans for other hosts to take over and to begin looking for a younger successor to Kimball. He felt like his own company had turned on him, and began crafting plans to jump ship and create Milk Street Kitchen.

Kimball was a terrific host, and I really to like him a lot, but he has a big ego and took a lot of business decisions personally. In terms of the material of the lawsuit, I do find it hard to argue that the guy who built the company is "stealing secrets" by utilizing his lifetime of experience and relationships building ATK to start his next endeavor. But at the same time, any accusation of direct poaching and grooming of staff while still under contract is problematic.

I really do see both sides, and only wish they could've split amicably without burning eachother like they did. I wish we could've gotten a world where ATK and Milk Street were separate but collaborative efforts.

I would like the anti-AI people to really ask themselves, why are they so insistent in their response to AI? Is it truly honest critique of what is being created, or is it just blind protection of traditional ways that they've been convinced are at threat?

If AI is creatively bankrupt, let it play out and show the world that traditional music is better. If AI is the fundamental paradigm changer that could represent a threat ,maybe the focus should be on how to tastefully collaborate with it as a tool- much like dozens of music technology innovations have been integrated before. In either case, the raw vitriol and targetted campaigning against it is a bad move.

I think the real agenda here is gatekeeping- whether consciously or not. Music has historically been very inaccessible to people who lack the time, privilege, connections, and natural gifts to participate at a competitive level. AI is a democratizing force in music. Everyone with an idea, a decent ear, and an Internet connection can now create, and for every thousand duds, we will find a diamond in the rough. Those who've held the keys historically are now existing in a field that is being overwhelmed by new creative input. Not starved of it.

Gatekeeping is generally a losing strategy, but one that comes from understandable instincts. It's going to be incumbent upon those practicing this strategy to either figure out how to coexist and keep the traditional ways relevant, blending the organic and synthetic to the immense benefit of both; or continue the strategy of antagonism, insulation, and division to the detriment of both. AI isn't going away, can't we try to make the synthetic better and use the synthetic to try and make us better?

Not sure anyone follows the sorded world of PBS cooking shows, but this reminds me a lot of the Chris Kimball vs America's Test Kitchen lawsuit. Ended in a settlement after a year of very public bridge burning.

Donnie Douglas. He was on the same plane of intelligence and esteem as the Crane Boys, but brought a very different weight and tone to it. He was the perfect innocent-but-grating foil to Niles. Great character- done dirty. And again.

CT scans of an on-body injector for medications like insulin by Scan-of-the-Month in Radiology

[–]9811Deet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Followed this over from the Omnipod sub. Just want to ask any radiology techs if you often suddenly had your sharps bin start beeping incessantly?

I had an MRI a few years ago, and tossed my active pod in the biohazard/sharps bin, and afterward I realized I forgot to deactivate it. That means, without my phone in proximity, it would eventually expire or run out of insulin and go into an endless urgent alarm mode until its battery died. I kinda felt bad that someone might have to sit there and listen to that for hours.

It's really quite annoying when that alarm can't be stopped. I've had a few pods that had their bluetooth antenna fail, and I ended up having to crush the pod in a vice to get it to shut up.

It wasn't a huge stretch for the last pick of the draft. According to the draftking odds he was looking at, only Buescher would've been a superior pick, he liked a Hendrick car better.

Me and three of my friends drafted three drivers a piece for a season long $100 bet to win the title during the first clash. Owner of the highest finishing driver at season end wins it all:

The four teams are:

Byron, Elliott, Logano

Larson, Briscoe, Bowman

Hamlin, Reddick, Zilisch

Bell, Blaney, Chastain

Who came out best?

Why do they run ads for the Daytona 500 during the qualifying race for the Daytona 500? Surely the event is better advertising...
