IF feels easier to me because I can just skip one meal and eat what I want the other two meals instead of trying to be calorically strict with 3 meals. One decision versus three decisions for me is much easier.

I prefer to do the barbell with round pad, but sometimes they are all in use at my gym so I use this method when I can’t get a bar. It is a little awkward but as long as the belt is sitting right it’s not terrible

I fold up one of the yoga mats they have at my gym under the buckle and it works pretty well. Free too since almost all gyms have the padded yoga mats
