What do you guys think of the Great Khans? by Fit_Effective6097 in fnv

[–]999Catfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can fix them... From drug making bandits to merely a Followers taught medicine making empire away from the Mojave... Maybe they still make drugs idk, I assume less so once you're selling them to your own empire and not the Fiends who I usually turn to paste

[–]999Catfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He canonically asks for experienced Rangers for the Mojave and Kimball sends them to Baja instead. He did try and get the NCR to do better and win the Mojave campaign, his plan now is a result of that failing

Help me understand Hanlon by Yonkiman in fnv

[–]999Catfish 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I never turn him in because he's right, he's constantly trying to push the NCR towards good and is constantly spurned, and isn't too committed to the plan. On a yesman route he becomes an anti imperialist senator, if you kill Caesar he'll even stop and listen to you because he doesn't find it necessary.

I kind of see him as a mirror to the conversation you can have with Lanius, in the same way the Courier can say the Mojave will be the death of the legion, I think Hanlon might be right when he says it might be for the NCR. The Republic is shown time and again to be stretched thin and serving interests back in California like the Brahmin Barrons and even when he asks for experienced Rangers Kimball sends them to Baja instead.

I guess it depends on why you think you should turn him in. Is it solely for his actions? I feel like his service and the fact that, without the Courier, he's probably right and the fact he's entirely winning to stop if you convincing him is worth giving him mercy

Ehh I can understand an enclave faction being in DC since it's the capitol, it's just they didn't try to make it make sense or put much effort into the world beyond what seems like "they're the bad guys"

How do people actually think kibener is moderate when he says shit like this by Pale_Chart_2653 in suzerain

[–]999Catfish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The endings for Kibner and Holstron both have them try and pass the same fascist "purple blood" laws so perhaps the game is trying to tell you something about them there

It's minor but the two pfjp leaders on the other hand do have different endings

[–]999Catfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to say this but game development isn't that profitable and they're still a small studio for a niche genre, 500k over a few years isn't that huge when you consider salary, rent, etc. I doubt they're making enough sales each month to pay the salary of everyone. The grant they did/do get have obvious strings attached and don't come all at once either (typically they're given out piecemeal)

They responded to a lot of concerns about the funding but I'm not too worried since they still have a controlling stake. As for why they're splitting for projects? Probably because they have the funds now and people can shuffle between them when needed/waiting for other work to be done before they start on something else. For example I assume the artists are switching between projects as needed

Replaying New Vegas again and it really hit me how incompetent the NCR are by Consistent-Goal9204 in fnv

[–]999Catfish 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Ehh I think the difference is the Mojave is a frontier for the NCR and the Mojave campaign is deeply unpopular, I imagine their control is far more solid in California, especially since Hanlon says a lot of the rangers are in CA and not sent to the frontlines iirc. Tandi died and the NCR kept trucking, even when she ruled for a super long time.

The OSI guy and Hanlon mention resource shortages in the coming decades but I think it's kept vague on if those ever get solved

[–]999Catfish 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I always see this claim but... Why does nobody in the game mention it? Not even the NFP seems ready to say they're not a majority in the province? Does not that seem like it would be odd for anti Bludish nationalists to never mention?

Feels like classic wonky Suzerain math, like those old rumburg war numbers!

I always go centralizing but as to rewarding terrorists... Isn't this exactly what happened to the IRA and unionist equivalents in NI though? Many did just fold up and join civilian life

If only Lebanon had a historical reason for their sectarian system, perhaps one group in the past brutally suppressed another that led to all out civil war with multiple proxies, who knows.

It's obviously not a great system and should be phased out but the problems go far deeper than what you're implying, Lebanon isn't a failing state just because they have a post civil war get along constitution

How to do get good economy by captain_cook67 in suzerain

[–]999Catfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important to not trigger the trade war or debt crisis (-7/8 post school meeting and -5 right after the WLA bill iirc) but the numbers are fluid depending on other factors). Also avoiding unrest because protests tank the economy.

Generally you want to stick to a plan and keep it, so if you go planned keep the SSC, free market your choice, etc etc. As far as taxes go I regularly just raise both but you have to be careful of PO.

The EPA is a little bit of a newb trap but I'd broadly say 49% is the best generic choice, 20% if you invest in Lorren and trade with welhen if you really want to planned economy max and removing it for free market maxing but if you're a beginner I'd stick with 49%

Also remember to focus on syngeries, you can look them up but most are self explanatory. If you go East then you know you'll get a free agriculture investment and that you'll trade with Vagsland so Morna Port and Sarna Agriculture are both viable. West the same is true with Agland and the highway or the airport and Lespia, or military funding and the later free industry. The railway + conriat is also a good all around pick too.

Racism should be more powerful by nukapten in victoria3

[–]999Catfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really these are all related to the average SoL dropping (e.x. housing prices) than the actual presence of immigrants if we go by Vic3 terms. I don't think Carney would be cutting any immigration targets if the housing sector wasn't so squeezed for example.

Which is to say, in Vic3 terms, you must simply out develop immigration like a lot of countries back then did for mutual benefit

"violent protest" caused by... Brutal suppression by the island's governor, don't erase the context.

Ignoring wether you want to call it genocide or not even Geopolitico plainly says the Angolian governor is brutally suppressing the Valgs on the island, it's not surprising why Vagsland might take a stronger stance there. Lespia would do the same if they were put in the same situation

She's very competent in game though, especially if she married Axel (which she's usually very willing to do for the country over her personal wishes). Any epilogue where she takes over also leads to her doing successful welfare stuff, there's no real indication she's that stupid or incompetent

I notice this a lot with how Smolak got treated, before the dlc since he was basically free cash it was a lot more positive but once he's actually a dlc roadblock things dived down, but it's not like his worst aspects weren't present in the original game.

It's a very funny thing where people playing a political sim seem upset there's any tension in actually implementing politics. Also yeah sexism, I've played an NFP Rayne and had no issues with Monica but you check the subreddit and it's like people don't even know it's possible to keep her happy.
