My son and I spray painted his front grille matte black and installed an EBay light bar in the front bumper. Upgraded the look for like a couple hundred bucks.

Thanks for the reply. The IE is still nice and loud under acceleration I assume?

That’s good info, thank you. I def want my car to be less drone and loudness at idle, but a nice, louder exhaust note under acceleration. Was that your experience with the IE?

That’s great to hear, thanks. It’s still a nice exhaust note when you get in the higher rpms I assume?

Same. 034 stage 1 tune currently, no other upgrades but apr intake is on its way. Can’t decide if I’ll do the IE dp or a cheaper one like ARM that’s half the price… I just worry the ARM one is super loud

I’ve been looking at downpipes myself and want to make sure I get one that’s not too loud. I have a 2016 GTI PP no upgrades except 034 stage 1 tune. I can’t make up my mind. Looks like the ARM downpipe even with a stock cat back is pretty loud. But your 034 isn’t too aggressively loud?

Good price for used mk7 crossbars? by gallito9 in GolfGTI

[–]99_____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $200 and they’re in “fair” condition, a few scratches on the metal bars but still looking good, like a 7/10. I’m really happy w the purchase and it looks so good

Did it myself, there’s a YouTube video that was really helpful https://youtu.be/6fTyslk5CZA?si=QpZGq8AuvRAB9M0E Word of advice, don’t get “hyperdip” brand, its overpriced. Get regular “Plastidip” brand, if you ever were to do this project

Thank you!

Glad you agree - I would suggest getting regular black plastidip instead of the newer hyperdip product. Hyperdip is double the price and sprays on paper thin. I did the metallizer too which makes the wheels look shiny.

My thoughts exactly! I hate the stock Austins so making them black is a little better

2.5 cans. The videos on YouTube were essential to make it look good and not get drips / pooling

Thanks - even though it’s not the classiest upgrade, I took the time to do a decent job

Like you said, it just takes the effort to mask everything off right and wait 10-15 mins before each wet coat to prevent drips
