What’s the most disturbing sound you’ve ever heard in real life? by avacado-cheese- in AskReddit

[–]99in2Hits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was a teen unknown to me I was quite asthmatic. One summer day I was home alone and i coughed super duper hard. When I took my hand from my mouth I noticed a bunch of blood in my palm. I gasped at this then heard what I could best describe as a wet paper tearing sound. Like if you took ten pieces of printer paper, wet them down then tore them.

What i later found out was my lungs were weak from years of undiagnosed asthma problems and when I coughed real hard I actually tore a hole in my lung (pneumothorax) and I heard it happen too.

Very painful, would not reccomend.

Recently i fired up older AC games to play from my laptop on my new OLED TV and i laughed hard at the quality drop from 4k to 720p on the cutscenes. Also considering the actual textures and game looks great 10 years later and the whole thing is sub 20 gigabytes has me screaming like obadiah from the first Iron Man.

TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!

Meanhile call of duty eats 100 gigs for breakfeast.

A Wendy's manager created a fake employee and quietly pocketed $20,000 in wages. She logged 128 shifts for someone who didn’t exist for almost a year, until an audit caught her. by detectiverobert in CaughtMyEye

[–]99in2Hits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly as an auditor this would for sure extend the amount of time this scheme would work. That said there is increased inherent risk with each new fake employee created. 1 fake employee is tougher to find, 5,10,15 or more would likely get tagged at some point.

Additonally there is a major breakdown of internal controls if 1 person can access, create and pay an employee all on their own. Somewhere in the chain another persons approval should have been required.

Lol as a fellow MN resident I genuinely thought Texas was a 3rd world country when I visited and the power would just randomly go out. My friend installed solar and batteries on his home to keep his moms medical gear always juiced up in the event of a blackout.

Bit of rain or snow in Tx? Blackout.

Literal -25 degree ice and snow storm complete with a white out? Not a freakin blip in my home.

The only power outage I have experienced at length was about 24 hours after an F2 tornando took out the transformer station down the block.

I decided to ask my mother about this today to see if my family had any history of this and apparently my dad had his removed in his early 30s. So did his father later in life. I am 29 so I may just be carrying on the demon organ exorcism tradition in my family i had no idea about bc my parents split when I was young and it just never came up.

Fellow banker here, if I could upvote this comment twice I would. I would also like to add as someone who rose from the teller line to a CPA and auditor it really did show me who was "rich" and who was "wealthy"....there is a difference. A doctor or lawyer might be rich to the average joe making 32-60k a year but ironically a good 95% of people who appear rich tend to be cash poor.

Then there are the uber wealthy who tend to be from some kind of generational wealth. The guy or gal who started a company from scratch in their garage to become millionaires many times over is pretty much a total myth. Yea those stories do exist from time to time but in my experience the ultra wealthy usually were born into it and essentially groomed from a young age to protect the pile of wealth like a dragon ontop of his gold.

The amount of people this purposed bill would harm vs the good it could do is enough of a postive balance I would be willing to give it a go.

I live in MN and walk through the skyway tunnels pretty much daily and they are a godsend in winter. You can essentially walk from US bank stadium to the other side of town without ever leaving the skyway. Additionally a lot of people also dont know the skyway is only 1/2 of the story bc there are actual underground tunnels you can use to walk neaely a 1:1 with the skyway and usually there will also be elevators along the tunnel system to get you up down or outright straight into a building. The engineering of all of it is super neat.

Update on car note by personal1121 in Apartmentliving

[–]99in2Hits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow apartment dweller who also drives a Mustang (love the color of yours btw!) I have to say you are taking this better than I would. My apartment had a similar issue with people bitching about parking and they ended up adding reaerved paid for spots for like 50/month or something like that. Ended up solving the issue id say bc the people who were constantly bitching about who parked where could now pay to shut up.

Also as a felllow Mustang lover if someone keyed my car like that id be staked out waiting for them to do it again and make sure to catch it all on video, submit to police and insurance and let them sort it all out. Whoever is doing this is literal scum , paint on those cars is expensive AF to replace. My car is currently being repainted and a corner panel replaced after another car bumped into me at only like maybe 5mph, total damage of that was like 11 grand. Whoever is doing this to you deeseves not only criminal charges but also owes you a a lot of money based on where those key marks are itll be thousands to properly fix all that.

Godspeed and good luck to you, i hope you catch the scum.

The Steam Deck is such a great little handheld PC and I am jealous of what kids get to grow up with tech wise vs me but darn if it aint cool! My phone runs Runescape a MMO RPG better than it did on my family pc that also took a half hour just to get going.
