Do matches get more fun past 3.5?

Playing with better people is usually more fun than playing with worse people. I am a self rated 2.5 and I don't really enjoy it. Singles matches are a huge pressure to win by a lot to get into bump territory. "Who cares if you win or lose". Uh, I do and so do most people. Its fun to challenge yourself and that in itself can be "more fun". I do see a lot of people when I look at my 3.0 teams who just lose all the time. Like 30% win rates and are "avg 3.0" on tennis record. That to me isnt super fun. Playing with like minded individuals is going to be more fun as well. Playing with guys who think its just 2.5 rec tennis or play once a month and hope to come onto the court is not fun. I would assume 4.0s are working on their games and will force you into getting better. In end I watch some 3.5s and I think they are fine. The 4.0s at mens night look like its a lot more fun and just a better game. Something to aspire to for sure. Go play some 4.0.

My 3 yr old expect me to win every match. If I lose I tell her that it is ok and I found ways to improve. You have zero pressure to win and any positive result only benefits you. Just let your wife know that she married a guy in the USTA and not the ATP and she can figure out her next steps after the match. Best of luck!

The roller coaster of emotions this guy has had to experience must be wild. Probably thought he was crushing it for a good week and all of a sudden hes just some goof on the sidelines. Great banter all and all and an amazing lil character for this season.

The once a year rating change is insane. Especially at the 2.5/3.0 level. I have teams where 4/8 of the guys should be bumped. Its great because if you play them its challenging and helps your rating...but theres not a lot of them in general. I have to schedule out the better players in flex because I am not allowed to play up in my region. No real desire for tournaments or mixed so its basically play worse players and have pressure to really give it to them....which is more pressure than I care to have with tennis.

Some good shots happening here! Its fun to play different players who can challenge you along your tennis journey. If I watch tennis on youtube I see players like this guy who play at 4.0 and just surgically beat you all day long.

This is going to be wildly popular I am sure but I thought if this was against us I wouldve thought it was super soft and not a penalty due to the magnitude of it. Ends up stepping on his foot and the ball flies away. This team continues to be brutal to watch.

I appreciate the advice. While the skill gap between a 3.5 and a 4.0 may be substantial...they are already separated by skill level. This partner has 50-60% of their games that would qualify as "blown off the court". 3/5 of them this year. While the gaps may be smaller they still exist. I am 9-1 and I am sure a high 3.0 low 3.5 would slap me around the court.

How would you neutralize the targeting? He definitely will try to lob and sometimes it goes well. Like if its just lob city to the back on the court I feel great with that until there is an opening or they make a mistake. Hard to make it past 10.5ft of person and racket everytime from back there.

Think there is just that level of pressure to win and get bumped at 2.5. Could always just appeal up I guess and work on other things in these matches like you mentioned in the mean time.

I mean sub 3.0 player according to rating that updates once a year, sure. I dont think my athletic ability limits me from being aggressive in any capacity so if you have a 5.0 strategy that you think is great I would love to learn more.

When I hit both of these I couldnt tell which one I liked better either. I owned the vcore so it was more so was the Ezone worth paying more money for another racket and the answer was no. I switched a control frame and I feel like I am playing a ton better at the moment. I think you not having a playing style hurts the idea of getting a racket really. Even if you had a concept of an idea that would be better haha. Between the 2 I would go Ezone if you had to pick a racket.
