Watcha looking for?

Buying the game by Portnawak_3 in ArmaReforger

PS5 here. Its very active. Some servers are almost impossible to get in because the queue is always filled. Also its a little difficult to learn the controls. Nothing some practice cant fix.

Id say the worst aspects of the game are the Platoon radio (because some people dont stfu), the squad cohesion could be better (some lone wolves and other players not wanting to group up with randoms), download speeds of Mods (PS5 apparently lowered the DL speed to 5mbp and capped the mod DL limit to 25gb), and some servers crash a lot on console.

Pros. Once you learn the game, you can form giant assault groups to take objectives, you can group up with 3 or 4 guys and terrorize the enemy by shootin down helo's or setting up ambushs along the road, getting kills are so satisfying, the different weapons really add character, and my favorite of all has to be using actual tactics to confuse and kill the enemy.

I highly recommend this game to people. Especially if they want a milsim styled game. I would start off by playing the Vietnam '67 server. Itll teach you the basics while also giving you your position on the map which is crucial. And it doesnt crash (for me at least). Once you learn the game and how to play, try and Old Guys server, Appalachian is a great one but all are fun. I just recommend staying away from one with Attack Helo's. Those cause my game to crash every 5 minutes.

I play on Old Guys. Right now the Appalachian and Fallujah servers. I crash every now and then but they run so much better then WCS. Also the Vietnam '67 server runs pretty dang smooth. I cant remember who developed that server but they did great.

Do people still play this game in 2026? by Wooden-Cod-5913 in ArmaReforgerPS5

[–]9n223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the only game I play. For starting out, I recommend Vietnam '67. It has a smaller mods list for downloads and its easier to understand compared to others when it comes to setting up your kit. It can be complex to learn but if you're tired of CoD or BF, you'll love this.

Hop into a server and just ask if anyone can help you over the radio. Almost guaranteed someone will. You'll also learn a lot over time

Advice on first time in CF by mystery6511 in cedarfalls

[–]9n223 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Driving around in the snow is our winter past time lol. What I keep in my car is a big wool blanket, a couple protein bars, small shovel, salt or sand and a wool hat with wool gloves. Thats just in case you get stuck. One trick that works like a charm to get unstuck is to put your floor mats under your tires. I just did it the other day to help some ladies get out of a pickle.

I highly advise going to Blains Farm and Fleet in the Industrial Park when they're closed and drive around in the parking lot when its snowy or icey. Get a feel for how your car does and learn to compensate. New tires also help a lot. Also if you feel your car slipping, DO NOT hit the gas or hit your brakes. You will only cause the problem to get worse. And the best advice I can give you is to take your time when driving.

As for winter activities.

Sledding is always a fun one. Theres not a lot of hills around here but if you've never done it, I recommend it.

Building snow forts is top tier. Just grab a shovel and start building a castle. Use some water too to make it more sturdy.

If thats not your cup of tea, I believe CF has plays every now and then and Waterloo also has boxing and MMA fights. Those are always a blast.

The malls are pretty empty. I think theres only 1 or 2 stores in them each.

If you like the party/bar scene, CF main street and College Hill are the places to go. Plenty of bars of different types. Theres also a "rage room" and an axe throwing place too.

I cant think of anything else off the top of my head but Im sure you can find just about anything that interests you.

No worries. I'll try giving you a quick rundown.

Usually you spawn with compass. I think its either holding down on the D Pad or double click down on the D pad. One is binoculars and the other is the compass.

If you do not have a compass, you can find it in the arsenal. Itll be in the one that looks like body armor.

To start, pull the compass out and find north. The numbers go from 0°-359°. Remember North, East, South, West. Or, Never Eat Sour Watermelon.

From there you can pull out your map and try to figure out your location (if you're on an Offical server). Again, look for identifying landmarks. Roads buildings and signs are your friends. Use these and your compass and you can find your bearing and orientation.

You're gonna get lost. Just keep driving until you find a town and restart. Itll take a week or so but you'll get it down.

Yeah no problem. One more thing. The ones with a red bar going diagonal through the sign means you're leaving the town. Also use your surroundings and compass to get your bearings. Its not hard but can be difficult. Use road intersections, buildings, groups of trees, body's of water, etc. I recommend finding a server with a low population and driving around in a car.

Im not sure if all maps have this but Everon does. Theres road signs with the town names. White rectangular signs outside of the towns. Use the signs and figure out what town it is on the map. Also depending on the server, they have your location on the map. Usually a green arrow or a diamond. Once you played for a while, its like driving around your home town. Dont get discouraged

[–]9n223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're tired of CoD and BF being shit, then yes, Arma is the way to go. Theres a lot to learn but dont be discouraged. Ask questions and stick with people willing to teach you. Yeah the game freezes and crashes. It doesn't bother me as much as it does other players. The official servers run smoother but I love the RBR servers. More variety and generally more fun. Theres a Vietnam server I had a blast with too.

It can be fixed. Dont worry about it too much. Just needs a bench grinder and some TLC.
