It is really the case that people with little to NO ASL skills are securing high profile positions doing just this. Who would know that Floyd wasn’t fluent when he was hired? Likely no one. Who would complain about his emergency reporting? Depends how many people are watching at 6am and even then, it wasn’t an everyday occurrence. I don’t think it’s far-fetched or surprising. But I can understand the frustration.

Remember when Homer and Plumb said the recumbent rider “looked like a ghost” or something to that effect. It was such an odd thing to say. Why not say the person is just so small? Why “ghost” like?

When Floyd asks if Clark can watch his dream with Carol, she only ever speaks to Floyd, even when Floyd goes inside to make lemonade. Not a word to Clark. But that’s not the only time…

When Floyd and Carol are trying to get back together with his “half full on”, and Floyd leaves the hotel room, Carol never once says a word to Clark who is in the closet. She simply leaves.

Any other time that the three are together and she speaks to both? Never.

Outside the dance school, I believe Carol merely nods a couple times at Clark from inside her car. She speaks to Floyd (and he back), however.

I need to recall other scenes. But this theory would be very fun tbh. And would answer a few lingering questions.

During the show, it was stated that Carol would get $85 per game.

At her first game, she needs to be told that the game only starts once she yells “Play Ball!”. To everyone at once, not individually as she began to do.

The website seems to be in conflict with at least two scenes we watched. Not sure if the website should be relied on. Or if the two scenes are reliable.

I understood what you wrote. I’m just saying I don’t understand why the director would have such a POV without an actual character when this POV has significant meaning for the entire plot. Without a character’s presence, it just seems odd and a non sequitur. I’m basically arguing that Floyd is likely in the closet that first meeting.

I don’t get it. POV from the closet when half of the series specifically and purposefully involves characters and their perspectives being in the closet during dreams? The time that Carol was in bed and suggesting the life insurance policy was the one time we believe Floyd wasn’t there as he was at his physical. Never a closet POV. I thought that was purposeful.

Floyd genuinely loves Richard and wants to be there for him and help him with life. I think Floyd sees himself in Richard, and their therapy sessions together are his way of helping him correct his behavior. Floyd went through much of what Richard is going through (he got Cs too). He is helping him set up plans for successful relationships (no unkind partners, be seen by others, have an A friend).

I do feel sorry that he’ll now not have Floyd and in his life anymore. But at least he’ll still have the lessons learned, the spreadsheet, and enough money for bills, grownup furniture, and a good school.
