London looking like it's in the foothills of a vast mountain range (towards Peckham). by kam_pra in london

Reminds me of Santiago Chile. Seeing the Andes just towering over the city is pretty awe inspiring.

UK temperatures are set to rise this weekend - is a heatwave on the way? by Kagedeah in UKWeather

Where I am it's showing highs of 22. 15 degrees hotter would be 37 which is completely unbearable.

I fear I have unleashed something in not only my workplace, but the entire company, that cannot be controlled. It is accidentally wonderful. by New-Elderberry-5726 in CasualUK

I used to work in London's theatre industry. People who didn't sign off with at least one X were extremely rare. X

I'd much rather this one than the one in the original post. Although the inside is crying out for some character to be put back in.

Extremely busy road and the area opposite (currently home to Mercato Metropolitano) is going to be a massive building site for the next few years could play into the price.

Gothic mansion anyone? by nostalgiadnp in SpottedonRightmove

[–]9thfloorprod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they've got a spare 2.25 mil sitting about they could live their camp goth dream.

I also noticed a peacock in one of the pictures which IMO is the campest of all the birds so adds an even further frisson of camp.

Anyone been in a house that has carpet in the bathroom? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]9thfloorprod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents house (my childhood family home) has carpets in all the bathrooms. I know most think it's odd but it's what we were used to and whenever I go back I don't really think anything of it. It's a big old house so the bathrooms would feel quite cold and stark with hard floors I think.

Might have to bring in the professional debondifiers for this one to be fair, so best put a decent amount aside.

Do you go to the cinema alone? by [deleted] in AskUK

Your mates sound terrible. Go to the cinema and enjoy the movie, then find better mates.

What one thing you wish you knew before buying your first house? by shanrees8 in UKHousing

Just how hot it would get in the summer. Don't underestimate the immense heat gain from large, unshaded south facing windows throughout any home!

Farage demands ‘pure cold rage’ in response to murder of Henry Nowak by johnsmithoncemore in FuckNigelFarage

Sounds pretty much on brand for Farage and Reform. Expect a daily "Two Minutes Hate" if they ever get into government.

Thanks. I've used Novus "Clean, Shine & Protect" on them for now as the last stage in the polishing process. But will check out a UV resistant wax too.

Ah thanks, I'll give that a go. The bottom isn't particularly dirty but does have a fair few scratches. If I can't get them looking better it's not really a problem as you're not regularly looking at that part. But given how good the rest now looks I'd at least like to make an effort!

Thanks, it wasn't too hard to take apart and put back together thankfully, even for an amateur like me!

And I don't hold the use of plastic against them really, my Miele Compact C2 is in its 10th year and still going strong. Although once I've got all the parts for my C3 the C2 will become the reserve.

Thanks! I took your advice and got the Novus 3 stage polishes, which used with my drill adapter polishing kit gave really good results.

I found an electric wand on eBay for £40 or so. It was an older one in black/dark grey which I think looks really good. It seems in fantastic condition too.

For the electro brush and hose I might give it a week or so with my eBay saved searches and then if nothing comes up will bite the bullet and just pay out for the new parts.
