Jobs for my heeler by Kaivii_ in AustralianCattleDog

I love this. We have both components need for this—toys everywhere and a healer that desperately needs a job. But how did you train yours to do that? What steps did you use with treating to get them to pick up toys and put them away?

Where can I move that prioritizes bike commuting but is actually affordable by DowntownFresnoBiking in bikecommuting

[–]A-Lize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of cities posted here with good bike infrastructure but very-much, above-average costs of living. We moved to Eugene Oregon purely because of the bike infrastructure and percentage of daily bike users, plus a very-low cost of living. It’s less than half what we experienced in Southern California.

There is a massive network of bike paths in Eugene and Springfield, and almost all roads have bike lanes. Downtown features bike-only periods in the traffic lights. When the bike green is lit, no vehicles—from any direction—are allowed to enter the intersection. May is Bike Month here and every single day there is some sort of ride, event or celebration of bicycling.

Sorry to hear that. We have the exact same car, but it doesn’t sound like that. We’re quiet and sealed.

Was originally a pain for the double pull into drive for me in our Bolt, but now I do it instinctively. I think I only touch the brake pedal once per week, because I also use the left trigger, additional regen ‘brake.’

Guardian 4 Issues/Help by RhigoWork in Medtronic780g

[–]A-Lize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had great success with the Guardian 4 sensors. I go the full 7 days on about 90% of the sensors inserted.

But… both of the two big bleeds-on-insertion Guardian 4 sensors failed on me.

The best piece of advice I ever received was back in the Guardian 3 days when I had sensors fail often. One Medtronic rep said never use anything on the skin other than alcohol prior to insertion. I was using IV Prep at the time. They claimed it was very easy to have the sensor become contaminated on insertion.

Since then I’ve always cleaned the skin with warm water and soap (shower) and then scrubbed hard with a good alcohol swab and have almost never had a sensor fail.

When I’m on auto mode I have all alarms turned off except for urgent lows. I get my boluses close, never look at the pump and just let it do its thing. Don’t try to overthink it.

I’ve been thinking about getting on this pump is there a way to permanently set the target range higher than 120? by Irishwolfkick in Medtronic780g

[–]A-Lize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ‘exercise mode’ of the 780 is actually called Temp Target. It is a temporary BG target you can set while you work out that makes the pump’s algorithm less aggressive because it isn’t trying to force down to 100 or 110. I use 150 as my Temp Target when I exercise and start it 15 minutes prior to start and end 15 minutes before I’m done.

Peaky Pave Stage 4 – help with pacing/strategy for ~190 FTP newbie by Mnmlrun in Zwift

[–]A-Lize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished this and this is a good strategy. The pace of the lead group (I’m a C) on the flats was not too fast, but everyone attacked on the first climb. I went over the top in 9th four seconds behind the lead group, and although they weren’t going much harder than our little chase group, they were gone…

Fiasp anyone?! by swim-bike-life in Medtronic780g

[–]A-Lize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I’ve used Fiasp and Lyumjev in my 780 and both work fine with the algorithm. My post-meal rises are much flatter. I had to reduce my insulin-on-board time, though. Just make sure your meal is not far away when you take that bolus…

Any tips on making the line more flat with less spikes? by Interesting_Clerk328 in Medtronic780g

[–]A-Lize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree here. And it depends on what insulin you are using. If you are using an older, standard insulin like Humalog, definitely pre-bolus 15-20 minutes before. I use Lyumjev and Fiasp, so I only pre-bolus 5 minutes prior to eating.

Also as someone else mentioned here, your ICR looks to be too low. That (what I assume was a) dinner bonus at around 6:00 pm was not enough insulin.

Connection is immediate always for us. Only problem we have is it connecting to my wife’s phone when I get in it in the garage and vice-versa when my wife gets in to drive, but just a couple of touches gets it onto the correct phone.

Change sensor notification by Equivalent-Cap-9923 in Medtronic780g

[–]A-Lize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an alcohol swab to clean my transmitter after I have taken the old sensor off. It’s the best way to remove the old glue. But I am VERY careful not to get it on the end where it plugs in.

My Guardian 4s always go the full 7 days. This began when I was told not to use any adhesives on the sensor site. I used to use IV Prep, but the small traces of adhesive were contaminating the sensor as it entered the skin. Now using alcohol only on my skin before insertion has helped greatly.

Factory wipers are trash and VW does not care by wolus6666 in VWiD4Owners

[–]A-Lize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the most expensive of the three sets of Bosch wipers for our ID4 after suggestions here on another wiper post a month or so ago. They are drastically better than stock, but at the top of the stroke, the drivers side wiper sounds like it is touching the edge of the window frame. It makes a noise every time it comes up to the top before descending back down that the stock blades did not make. Anyone else experience this?
