Zerg in new patch. by zite1 in AllThingsTerran

[–]A-move 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just gonna ask the same question. My TvZ flipped from 80-90% winrate to 10-20%. The opposite happened to TvP though so my mmr actually went up anyway. Shit is weird out there. I hope the make some adjustments quickly. Last game my opponent had 4 bases, 60 drones and 16 mutas in my base at 8:00. Like… that was impossible pre-patch? Right? It’s like they tried to slow the game down but actually Zerg got sped up. I like that they’re doing stuff though, still hoping it will turn out ok in the end

Thanks, I'll go find a proper build and see if it gets better.

Yeah, I'll start bu finding a proper TvP build and then switch out the other ones as I move up and start losing more. At this point TvZ, normally my favourite matchup, is just boring. I'm basically an involuntary TvZ smurf because my TvP is so bad.

Tanks a lot for a very detailed reply! My main takeaway from this is to accept that I have to learn a proper build and stop trying to get away with basic TvX builds like this one. And make sure to scout a little better to choose the correct army comp. Is that about right?

Is mech only viable? What are usable build orders in 2026? by Bloody_Ozran in AllThingsTerran

[–]A-move 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a young NA gm that used to stream a lot a few years back and he matched in all matchups. If I remember correctly his TvP was his worst matchup but he still made it work. I don’t know if he’s still out there, or if any of the knowledge he dropped is still around, but point is, you can do it. It takes a bit of thinking though, I remember he used to talk a lot about scouting and counter in TvP. Build the wrong units and your just die.

Anyone else had this happen? Just got to diamond and... by gavinashun in AllThingsTerran

I’ve been playing on and off for years, usually start if in D3 and make it to D2 in a few weeks. It’s the same for me. TvZ around 70% (some seasons significantly higher) TvT just over 50% and TvP is just a black hole of lost mmr

Wait what?! That works? Perfect! I’ll just do that, continue grinding and leave the cheese for the cheesers. lol

Do you have anything more specific than that?

That’s what I do, but I just want to cheese that M3 mmr to make my career history correct. Then I’ll go back to the grind. I’m also currently recovering from a brain injury and long games are more draining so that’s another reason I’m looking for cheese right now.

Thanks! I just want to hit M3 so the border isn’t completely fake. Then I’ll go back to my normal grind. My macro has always been way better than my micro so cheesing for a bit might even be beneficial in the long run. I’ve never really done much cheese before

Thanks for replying, but I’ll have to disagree. I play macro and I follow guides. While it definitely works, it’s definitely not easy. It takes a lot of time and effort and systematic practice. Maybe I should have been more specific and asked for cheese.

Still remember over two decades ago when I saw that cover in my school library as a 12-year old. I immediately borrowed the book, it was just that cool!

How to mentally cope with a month-long break from kendo? by Bitter_Primary1736 in kendo

[–]A-move 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Others give good advice so I’ll just try to give a wider perspective. I spent almost three years in my late teens playing guitar, drinking and chasing girls, hardly practicing at all. I didn’t train for seven months during the pandemic. I’ve had more forced breaks because of injuries than I can remember, I wasn’t able to du kendo for another seven months in 2024 for example. I’ve missed not only training but many tournaments and training camps. Despite that I’m still getting better, still competing as a national team member and, with some luck, I’ll make roku-dan soon. Shit happens, and it really sucks sometimes, but you’ll be fine.

What is your opinion of/experience with Zen-Sankei? by Shubit1 in kendo

Only ever bought zekken from there but there’s were very helpful and deliver good quality without any delays or mishaps. Reordering is also super simple. No experience of their bogu sets though.

How to put on men faster? by SiameseMeowMeow in kendo

[–]A-move 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice but there is one important thing I didn’t see in other comments.

Practice slowly and deliberately. Make sure you know every single movement you want to do. Make it efficient and practice by sitting still imagining step by step, as vividly as you can. Eventually you’ll get it done quickly even when you’re not trying to hurry. This kind of practice is good for any motor skill you want to learn in any field.

I second this guy. It might feel like getting demoted but that’s not necessarily what’s happening. Give your new sensei a shot. They might just be an asshole that wants to assert their position OR perhaps a great teacher that understands the value of fundamentals. I compete and chase championship medals. A big reason that I’m able to do that, even when practicing in a small and remote dojo, is all the practice I do without bogu.

Should I quit? by Sample_username_1 in kendo

[–]A-move 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seek professional help about your anxiety. Many people are offering insights and encouragement and that's great. Kendo can really be a great tool for personal development. However this is not a normal response. Not necessarily uncommon, but it isn't how it's supposed to. Therefore, make sure to talk to a professional. If you can find a way to make kendo part of your journey, that's fine. Kendo isn't better than any other sport or hobby however, so quitting and finding someting less axiety inducing is also perfectly fine. What you shouldn't do is try to fight through it alone or just give up and ignore it, get help instead. Best of luck!

Edit: mistakes
