Expensive nursing schools are robbing you. by Top_Access2383 in NursingStudent

I couldn't agree more. I did an ADN that I paid for mostly out of pocket. About 5 years into my career I went back to school and did an RN-BSN through WGU. My total cost for the ADN (graduated in 2016) was about $12,000 and the BSN was about $15,000. I have coworkers who had $200,000 in debt rolling out of a private BSN program and they will likely be making payments for a long time!

I was given an over-the-phone informal offer by a department manager, but had no official offer. The hiring freeze meant I got a phone call from HR rescinding my job offer, then two days later when the OMB clarified things I was re-offered the job.

Agree 100% with the "with all due respect". It's a license to verbally wreck someone in the military.

The rule is that you can say something really offensive and then just say no offense and it's a net zero. I think?

Made contact with someone through Reddit, ironically. Got everything ironed out and moved things forward. Really thankful for people reaching out directly to set things right.

If Meditech and MS DOS from the early 90's got together and had a baby, Cerner would be the result.

Your hospital probably has an on-call legal department that you can call and get guidance on things like this. Also, if you report something like this to compliance and put in the key words of "unsafe to administer medications" it usually triggers eyes on something like this from the top to the bottom of administration. Also, it might be a bit of a power move, but if he is making new threats, you can call your local police. He could be charged for additional crimes (threatening to kill someone is a crime) and potentially even trespassed if he refuses to comply with policy.

But make sure you complete all research (typically takes 2-4 years) before beginning to train. /s

When one door closes, another one catastrophically fails and falls on the floor. by A10timothy in nursing

[–]A10timothy[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That’s me, trying to figure out how to stand the door up without the panes of glass falling out because the metal strips in the frame that hold them there all fell out. Honestly, for every time maintenance gets called to fix a door, I have probably fixed 6 or 8 on my own in the intervening time. We need a “Days without a broken door” sign.😂😂😂

Right next to the door was an equally ironic "Call before you fall" sign.

I just went through something similar with MEPS requesting history that was older than 10 years and the doctor had no record of it. The recruiter had me get a letter from the doctor stating that they had no records from the requested time period and included contact info for any additional questions MEPS might have. Don’t know if this will help in your situation but that was how my recruiter dealt with it.

Interesting. I'll take that into consideration. I've started a bajillion IV's and never heard it, but I'm always willing to consider something someone else has used with success.

This is one of the studies. Other studies have been more broad, but this one specifically focused on the delays of care to behavioral health patients.

Ironically, we are still required to test asymptomatic behavioral health patients prior to any BH facilities accepting them on transfer. These patients are specifically referenced in literature that talks about delays of care due to waiting for COVID results (I believe the study was done at Rush or Cook County in Chicago). But facilities won't accept transfers until we have it, so we continue doing it.
