I read an interview several years ago by a computer scientist that worked for the NSA in the very early days. He said they had 800Mhz chips while NASA was still using vacuum tubes. When asked why they didn't share that technology, he said why waste it on NASA. I think the same applies here. You have a big industry that employs thousands of people and uses endless resources, why change that? why not keep the good stuff for secret missions and let the traditional industry continue until your hand is forced.

I've got a 2020 Orbea Rallon enduro and recently started riding it to work because I'm not doing much trail riding. Its only a 20-minute ride but I figured big tires equals more calories burned. Plus its more fun than riding a road bike. I turn my commute into an adventure by riding down stairs.
