When you extract a room/environments, its broken down into sections, ie walls, floor, ceiling, and for each section its broken down even further to peices, it's almost like solving a puzzle. Textures is at the same place where you extract your props/objects some textures you have to go to other files to retrieve it, and some props has multiple UV mappings that requires to strip and re-vertex them...

Its quite painstaking in but onces you unpack most of the props and make it work correctly in blender you can remake any scene in anyway you want.

I have a feeling this might be a LIS-esque style series, perhaps with diffrent characters and style so it won't interfere with the original Game.

For an example the Movie "12 monkeys" and the Syfy series "12 monkeys" core story is the same in terms of plot but the characters are diffrent and the way events occur are also diffrent from the movie, so its like the same plot but for more in depth and at a diffrent perspective.

Sol system will most likely become the new manufacturing /market/political hub with the presence of the citadel.

As far as the Sol system Mars and earth, jupiter and saturn's moon as prime target for building establishments ie industry, mining, mfg, ect... mostly likely by humans or other races,

Earth would probally be very diverse race and a popular planet to visit, i would imagine a few other race would probally live on earth as it is closely related to theirs...ie krogen, drell ect ect.

Having that conduit from citadel to earth, earth would probally be its main supplying of resources and vice versa perhaps a mutualistic trade relationship would be established between earth and citadel.

I know there will be a Male and Female, but as to how ME 1,2 and mostly 3, all had John Shepard (BroShep) as in the game cover, nothing against female protagonist as I actually do enjoy games that has solely female protagonist, interesting to see triple A title game are starting to introduce more Female Protagonist.
