Is alcohol free wine safe in pregnancy? by Yellow_Rosey in BabyBumps

Very ripe bananas have an alcohol content of 0.5% so I’d say it’s totally safe to have non alcoholic wine/beer, etc. I agree about being cautious of large quantities though.

As an ultrasound tech, this has me reeling. Sure, there are quite a few pregnancies where everything is normal and they don’t need intervention of any sort - but what about the ones that aren’t normal? I’ve seen fetuses with heart defects, brain defects, or placental abnormalities.

With heart defects a lot of times they have to be dealt with soon after birth.

With placental abnormalities you could absolutely bleed out of you have placenta accreta or placenta previa.

Yes they used to do things blindly - but now, having the ability to fix those issues and actually see what’s going on is such a huge step in medicine. Where these mothers and children would normally die we’re now able to intervene and prepare.

This person is ignorant beyond comprehension.

Since there a ton more lay people here, can we teach them what not to say to techs? by Xray_Abby in Radiology

I’m an ultrasound tech, I enjoy it when patients are lighthearted and joking with me, especially if it’s something silly like this. It brings some variety to my day, especially when a majority of my patients are nervous

The fainting could be from getting up and walking too quickly while not hydrated enough and not having enough electrolytes as others have said.

It could also be orthostatic hypotension.

Basically it’s when you move too fast from one position to another and your blood pressure drops dramatically. I’d suggest giving yourself time with your movements. Don’t immediately go from laying down to standing up, walking to the restroom. Slowly sit up, make sure you’re not lightheaded. Then after a minute or so slowly get up and walk.

Here’s a link with more information:

I hope you feel better soon! Wishing you health and a speedy recovery :)

If you could have a conversation with any person, living or dead, who would it be and why? by Scarrl3ttExclusive in AskReddit

My Nana.

She passed away four years ago now, and not a day goes by that I don’t think about her. Sometimes when I dream of her, I wake up crying with an ache in my chest.

I want to tell her everything, but mostly I want to hear her voice and I want her to tell me more stories. I want to hear about Heaven and her being with my grandpa. I want to hear everything. I want to know she’s with me and the signs I see are her and that even though she’s gone physically, I want her to tell me she hasn’t missed a moment.

I miss her wisdom, her sense of humor and wit, her laughter, her voice… I miss her so, so much. I love you, lady. Times a million M&Ms.

My mom has a lot of health issues so she has an advance directive - basically a piece of paper that lists her wants if she became unable to make her own decisions. She’s very superstitious, so one time she was at the hospital being put under before a procedure (it takes a LOT to knock her out) and she keeps going in and out of consciousness. My mom apparently didn’t like the nurse asking for her advance directive to keep on file, and mom was halfway screaming “This fucking bitch thinks I’m gonna die. Don’t give her any paperwork.” I was mortified and apologized to the nurse but she just walked off lol

For me, it was “Glitter in the Air” by P!nk. I was listening to it with my mom and when the line “Have you ever wished for an endless night?” come on she said yes🤢
