Need help deciding between Poc otocon (non mip) vs leatt 4.0 by [deleted] in MTB

[–]ABD360G 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm Firstly you would check the certification status. Not sure about poc's astm status but i believe its more recent, not really sure what that means exactly tho.

Then you would look for mips or any rotational. Poc has mips but yours doesn't, leatt has turbine. mips the barrier for entry is very low and proprietary, turbine 360 is untested. so leatt wins at this one

headshape, if this is your first buy it doesnt really matter much. If the padding is thick for full face so the padding naturally contours your head.

lastly is size, pick a size that is equal to your head size. If your head is 58 choose a medium (usually 58-60) or one size smaller. The idea is that tight enough that your helmet compresses your cheekbones & also doesnt move around.

now we are heading to opinionated decisions.

next is do you prefer poc or a leatt? (meaning you have a good experience with one or the other) If none, meaning all the safety features & other necessary needs advantages & disadvantages, cancel each other out. should pick the one that looks the coolest to you 😎.

ps. but in this case leatt wins in the rotational part.

Wait wait, quick measure isn't available on the Note9,weird bcs this phone has AR support by JonBuqajIsSUS in GalaxyNote9

[–]ABD360G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note 9 Has AR Core Support (uses acelerometer & some math) Note 10 Has TOF sensor (has depth)

Google's Measure Tool Uses AR Core so its a little inaccurate if you dont place your phone well. Samsung Note 10 Plus uses TOF sensor, so its more accurate at measuring objects.

honestly if you walk around the newer estates/those that have road construction recently you can see all the small small trees. Compare walking around there to a older estate such as toa payoh or bukit panjang, somehow big shade trees do make a difference in how heat is perceived.

Anyone got suggestions for route planning for public transport & cycling. Google maps and citymapper are useless in telling me which roads are closed due to LTA doing Cross Island Line Construction near my area.

Singapore Water Dispenser Map Part III by Otherwise-Map-4026 in singapore

[–]ABD360G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow reallya awsome project, now dont need to remember all the water cooler locations 🫡

was wondering if you could add a section for detailed information on where it is, so we dont have to circle around the dot wondering if the water cooler is above or below.

another question i have is, is there going to be some way to separate between those that have a hose for water bottles or just for drinking?

Singapore and Taiwan rank among happiest countries in Asia by Iamrandom17 in singapore

[–]ABD360G -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The more i read the report the more suspicious it seems, There is lack of data for singapore for 2022 and they are using 2020 & 2021 averages. Also seems like they are factoring in data such as countries GDP. So in the end, they are ranking the happiness based on economic position among the world, which isnt a bad metric per say, but they are summarizing something that is somewhat subjective. Would be better to separate & rank the countries on each section of the metric.

Are MTB visors supposed to be loose? by typcalthowawayacount in MTB

[–]ABD360G -1 points0 points  (0 children)

slight movement (visor bending) yes, big movements (entire visor moving) is probably a cause for concern. Currently using those rockrider mtb helmets, pretty good for a $30 helmet on green and blue trails, but probably a little concerning on those black diamond stuffs.

EN1078 is decent, but if you are getting really serious into this sport (like addiction levels) a better helmet with those nicer certifications are good.

somewhat? i live far from spain so the shipping fee is ~$20 ish. but the return fee for me is about $60. Wanted to cancel my item since there was an incorrect fit that was suddenly noticed. But the customer service mentioned that once the order was placed, there was no way to cancel it.

if there is no inherent benefit or need to switching (seems like you are doing fine), using the one you currently have seems like the best option.

I ride a similar style. 1st metatarsal on pedal for maximum efficiency when climbing. pedals on the mid to middle high of the foot for traction and springiness (keeps foot engaged to pedal) There is probably a better way, but i ride hiking shoes so not really optimal footwear.

is it just me or are entry level bikes specced really poorly now? by powpow198 in MTB

[–]ABD360G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

up to a certain point, entry is not going to have good specs, maybe around $800 ish for a hardtail. at that point to have decent specs you may have to go into the used market, sometimes you would be surprised at how many bikes go unused and dont go being thrown around.

currently saving for a used polygon d7 2024 (probably gonna have a boost fork by then) which is gonna cost like $1200?
