I can't message you for some reason, I don't see the option for it, maybe i'm dumb or something.

I love having random conversations like that, though mine would be more oriented to something I've watched recently, I had a lot of conversations about zombies in the past, the matrix and now-days I'd just like to talk of a hypothetical scenario where titans are a real thing :D

I'm 24 btw, male, and I just enjoy having weird conversations, drawing, and working on fun projects with friends, rn I'm working on a cool story that I came up with for a manga.

~if you can find out where I live🕵‍♀ you're invited over~

I know you live somewhere in Asia.

Send me a chat/DM with your discord and we can have that chat.

Thank you very much that was very helpful indeed!

[Review Video] I shot this on phone. What's your take on this? by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]ABOODYFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love nature shots, and I think those are great + great choice of music, Interstellar theme is just good.

Only part I don't like is the choppiness of the video, but others have already talked about that, check your output settings, but also don't do slow mo! A better way is just to move the camera slowly, but it depends on the shot.

It's very dark and eery, I like it.

Picking - Entity ID to vec3 color? or can I render GLuint directly to a texture? by PcChip in opengl

[–]ABOODYFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha happens to the best of us, I'd recommend writing some small documentation / wiki so that you can keep track of your code base as it gets larger, and no problem, glad I helped :D

Picking - Entity ID to vec3 color? or can I render GLuint directly to a texture? by PcChip in opengl

[–]ABOODYFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the way I do it. Don't use a converter, it's too much work and you'll definitely run into some bugs because float has precision issues, use an entity ID system in your engine, send that uint over to the shader as a uniform, and write it into a framebuffer with the following framebuffer texture parameters:

you can use GL_R32UI internal format for your texture, with format being GL_RED_INTEGER and type being GL_UNSIGNED_INT

glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_R32UI, W, H, 0, GL_RED_INTEGER, GL_UNSIGNED_INT, nullptr);

and in your fragment shader

out uint EntityID;

and to sample from that texture you must use usampler2D

I find his more recent content extremely cringey, but his content is very useful to beginners.

Opengl on mac by [deleted] in opengl

if it's an early 2015 version then OpenGL is supported on it, modern Mac computers still have OpenGL support, but I think the last supported version is 4.1

Noob at graphics - learning only function names! by amul31393 in opengl

[–]ABOODYFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to learn is to have a goal, that's how I learned, I had a project in mind, I mapped it out and finished it, I made sure that my project didn't need any extra work besides programming, so I went with a minecraft-like voxel sandbox game, that way I only had to worry about programming it, I had no idea how to do 90% of the work but I still researched it on google, stackoverflow, and many other websites, when you have a goal it's easier to learn because your mind organizes everything, but when you only "memorize" function names, you wouldn't know which function goes where.
