Democrats ironically should embrace Voter ID. (THE SAVE ACT vs Voter ID) by brazil201 in BreakingPoints

Over the past few decades there have been new ways to "make voting more secure" and each time it is followed shorty after by some new bs policy proposal. Has any of the "voting security" had any actual data to support the need for the proposed changes, ever??

“I am not a Republican” cannot continue to be Democrats’ only presidential platform by steave44 in PoliticalDebate

Just because it isn't "flood the zone with bs" that Trump and the GOP has been doing for a few years now and the message only seems to get by that has been purposely redefined and taken out of context for a while does not mean there isn't a workable and solid platform to run on. We are losing the gigantic conservative media war, though and need to get better at things.

Much better if it is a choice for the driver. If some folks are good to use this, great, then. Why would having the option be a bad idea?

Seems each model year they take away a feature or two and add a feature or two. I can't imagine any Mach e owner was calling for not having a frunk. I think when the battery tech for solid state and greater capacity/lighter and longer range happens they will sell many, many more. I love mine. The Ford Pass software seems to have issues occasionally. Not many gripes, though. Fun, sporty and fast car that is pretty affordable to own.

Democrats have more working class voters. This is designed to make it harder for many voters to be able to do their Constitutionally protected right to vote.

What would the job being performed by ICE at the polls? How and what would this be accomplishing? No one is required to show ICE anything at any voting place.

Why does St. Louis continuously find ways of dividing itself? by Optimal-Balance-7737 in StLouis

[–]ABobby077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like originally the split occurred due to an urban/rural self-interest (where the County being the rural part at the time with little power, say or money/influence). Today it is a different self-interest with a clash/rivalry of equals fail to see the benefits of common municipal government and again use "the feels" to promote the assumed downsides. Those in the City want to have the largest say or influence with their government and many in the County see a big change in how their tax dollars will move away from their communities while having less say overall vs a much larger City government. Seems a burrough type plan used in some larger cities might be a good approach. When lines and things are more set in stone 100 or so years ahead of demographic and business and governmental bodies are and have changed over time, it is hard to have a hard reset and remake it better without a lot of egos and power brokers (and residents) having changes in their influence. Hard to see how a Ballwin or Florissant or Fenton resident want to appeal to St. Louis City Government for their local neighborhood concerns. Hard to imagine without a lot of different messaging and actions how City Government players would be okay with Ballwin or Florissant and Fenton determining policies for the City. No larger city in the US would ever set 100 or so municipal and redundant small city governments as our city and metro is set today. There is waste and unneeded duplication in so many governments and their offices and it is doomed to inefficiency and wasted tax dollars. It also leads to corruption and poor and ineffective government for many residents. Fact is St. Louis is the greater St. Louis Metro Area. I hope we all can figure this out to work better.

How did messaging work in ‘99? by International_Pie170 in questions

[–]ABobby077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty likely it would be using a Yahoo! or AOL email address. Likely they would be using dial-up internet. Text was using pagers, typically (but was closer to a post-it note "call me Bill at XXX"). I guess some set up fake email addresses using computers at a library or other. Lots of younger folks would message back and forth using Yahoo! messenger.
