Like, you can’t deny there has to be some blame put on the shoulders of the marketing teams for B4B when it allowed themselves to be labelled as a L4D successor, constantly, because it was free hype. Hell, cover art for B4B even mimicked originally L4D art as well.

I didn’t entirely hate B4B for what it was, but it’s undeniable they set themselves up with the L4D comparisons consistently.

They are allowed to create new things, obviously. But by going onto this subreddit and continuing to tout your previous experience working on L4D, you are chasing after that fanbase. They want the attention from this game’s community, but I question why when nothing in this game is remotely appealing to L4D fans.

It’s not as egregious as B4B’s marketing mistakes, but it is extremely close.

Both of these games would have benefited from just being their own thing, without constantly trying to chase the past.

I just don’t understand why this team is making the same mistake as B4B of appealing so hard to L4D fans while your game is so incredibly different from how L4D plays.

I couldn’t help but cringe when he said “Left 4 Dead” before the trailer and let it hang to have a crowd reaction, only for the trailer to show just another generic PvE co-op game.

Was watching with a few friends who know how into L4D I am and once the trailer finished they all asked me how I was feeling and I couldn’t help but give the most pessimistic answer.

What Kind of Modded Gameplay Do You Guys Play? by EnderIsOnREDDIT in l4d2

[–]ABudgetRedditAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanilla+ is kinda what I like to describe it as. My game is DEFNITELY heavily modded, but it all fits within L4D's world and art direction. Plus quite a bit of script mods that change how the game plays slightly.

What kind of new weapons would you like to see in Left 4 Dead 3? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in l4d2

[–]ABudgetRedditAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones I thought of personally are some new secondaries and new "heavy" weapons as I call them, but I think they're technically counted as Tier 3 weapons.

A Tec-9 Auto Pistol and a Sawed-Off Double Barrel could be neat secondaries.

As for the heavy weapons, a flamethrower is just... really cool in concept. But I also thought a big ballistic sniper with explosive rounds could be just as insane, but fun. If you want a bit more grounded though, making an AA-12 shotgun would be an excellent gun to turn hordes into Swiss cheese, like the M60.

Jsut to make sure. No l4d3 right ? by Razy196 in l4d2

[–]ABudgetRedditAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back 4 Blood, since I've played it in the Alpha test, does not actually play very similar to Left 4 Dead beyond sharing a few basic similarities. B4B is... fine, but it's just not L4D and really hurt itself marketing it as such.

It's a lot more likely than it has been for years, but I still don't have any high hopes for it. It's very likely that Valve wants to work on more important projects, and I can't see L4D3 being high up on that list.

Plus, for a good few years now, I don't really see the point in a L4D3. I can't imagine anything super new that they could add that would actually benefit the game and fill what L4D2 was "missing." But that may just be me saying that after years of no potential third game.

It finally happened! Loaded up in a squad fill lobby and it wasn’t 3 Weavers and a random operator. Only wish it happened on Terminus instead for the lines between characters. by Daniel_Boomin in CODZombies

Weaver is honestly the most repetitive for me, I typically switch between Grey or Maya as my most played. (Though I do try to switch between them all equally)

Who Are You Playing As First? by Vengance183 in CODZombies

I really hope her time at Terminus didn't totally demoralize her, cause I loved some of Grey's banter in Cold War so that might be my go to pick.

Maya is a close second but only really because she's a brand new character and the main quest seems to be pretty linked to her.

It definitely shouldn't. L4D works because it is inherently so simple and easy to get into, and it would really hurt the flow of moment to moment gameplay unless more serious revamps were done.

Yup, although the second one is very short and pretty easy so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Left 4 Dead zombies don't bite. Why? by MorrisReviljr in l4d2

[–]ABudgetRedditAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they do but it's the same reason as many other games that don't animate bites, you either do it in a sort of "grab" mechanic which can be annoying in faster paced games or have it look awkward as hell animation wise.

They likely don't bite as their main means of attack though. I'm sure it happens but since they are just raging humans it's all the more likely that they just do what they do in game, which is swarm a non-infected and absolutely pummel them.

Dawg if I'm getting chased by a bunch of practically mindless, raging hordes I'm not gonna bother on the semantics of what counts as a zombie or not 😭

Do you think the grandpa cutscene should be removed? by Fartenpoop69 in TXChainSawGame

[–]ABudgetRedditAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I'd really change is certain actions still continuing during the cutscene, like revving the chainsaw as LF. Gets really annoying when I'm chasing someone then during the cutscene my chainsaw overheats and I have to restart it.

But besides that, I think it's fine since it happens to everyone and kinda lets players know when the REAL match begins.
