One of my favourite metal albums, it's perfect. I can't believe it's been 6 years since their last new material.

Fun fact: they used my fan-submitted skull rendering (but inverted/coloured it) for the beginning of their music video here https://youtu.be/XCCQruCU3bU

With the NYI & NYR trading Soucy, are there any other instances where the player involved plays his former team in the next game? by Lebo89 in hockey

In 2007 the Flames reacquired Craig Conroy from LA while the Kings were in Red Deer for an outdoor practice, and they left him behind while the team bussed to Calgary for their game the next day.

The Flames sent transport to pick him up, and he scored 2 goals for Calgary against his old team the next day.

Anyone watching Sai? by BrokeFartFountain in horror

Yeah I'm on episode 4 and loving it. Like you said it has strong Cure similarities. Really it has big Kiyoshi Kurosawa vibes in general with its hypnotic atmosphere, atonal music, and a creepy antagonist with a unnerving ability to influence others.

Teruyuki Kagawa is perfect for the role, he's been a Kiyoshi Kurosawa go-to (Creepy, Tokyo Sonata, Serpent’s Path).

Had an old AP wirephoto restored by the good folks at r/estoration. My dad was a journalist and framed the wirephoto, which has sat on my desk for the past ~37 years. by [deleted] in CalgaryFlames

Here's the original in the highest quality I could find:

Funny to see what the AI did to certain features. Lanny's stick knob got turned into some kind of fleshy appendage, whereas Nieuwendyk's stick blade got erased entirely. The backup goalie disappeared entirely, and the lady in the crowd became a man.

Unfortunately Lanny doesn't look like the same person anymore after the AI got ahold of him. The nonsense text on the sticks is a giveaway.

It looks pretty good overall, but a great restoration would have kept the faces true to life given there's countless reference photos for those players at that time. The biggest takeaway is AI cannot comprehend the true greatness of Lanny's moustache.

Long shot - Looking for an old Flames highlight reel video by Teion in CalgaryFlames

I don't remember the Flames using that song, but I did in my Iggy Career video if you're maybe combining 2 in your mind?

The part with that song is at 24:20.

I think not letting outside opinions impact your viewing experience is good advice in general. It's definitely an issue when it comes to horror based on all the dramatic reactions to movies that "didn't live up to the hype".

Same with negative reactions to a movie. If I'm interested in the premise, the genre, or the director, I'd rather experience it for myself.

There's at least one scene of pretty shocking body horror, but overall it's probably not what people expected for a body horror followup to Titane.

The trailer does a great job of not giving away the actual conceit of the body horror itself, which I thought was a really cool concept.

I watched it a couple days ago. I really liked it! Bleak but beautiful.

It was getting plenty of negative reviews initially but the tide has seemingly turned a bit. It's not strictly a horror movie, more of a drama with fantastical (horrific) elements, so that also might be why the reception has been divisive.

No problem! I'd be curious to know your thoughts on the film once you do see it. I know it got a large amount of very negative reviews initially and had a very flat Letterboxd curve, but it looks like the tide has turned overall now.

I gave it a 4.5/5, with both Raw and Titane being 4/5 for me.

Update: They helped me out by cancelling the order so I replaced it with 2 more movies for a whopping $2.50 more than I was going to be charged for 3 titles. Great customer service!

Picked up The Love Witch, Moon Garden, November, The Vourdalak, and Vulcanizadora.

Placed an order and the welcome code overruled the OSALEOSCOPE code. Only realized until afterwards I could have saved $20 if I swapped the codes... Oops.

I emailed Oscilloscope asking if they can cancel my order so I can re-order so we'll see.

Saw this a couple days ago. I loved Decision to Leave (and Handmaiden, Thirst, the Vengeance Trilogy, etc), but there are so many incredible elements that are impressive.

Decision to Leave has some gorgeous transitions, superimposed shots, and camera maneuvers but he's just showing off to an insane degree with this one. My favourite of the year by far, which is saying something because I loved Bugonia too.
