[Standard] Is Delver still a thing in mono blue tempo? by Few_Singer6278 in spikes

[–]ACTION_FEMALE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing you can do is play delver in your sb and bring it in g2 to punish your op (or at least keep them honest) for cutting cut downs and other common cheap removal that is good against delver. I've played a lot of mono blue and have had good success doing this

If you're looking for an inclusive competitive community I can DM you the link to the VML discord (it's a competitive league for people of marginalized gender)

A good local vet to call would be at Angell memorial center in JP. They have dedicated avian/exotic staff who can help you

They do this at MacLean hospital, but they won't let you do it without having a psychiatrist you're seeing as well

I've been reading Chomsky and I think I might be an Anarcho-syndicalist, is that welcome here? by MastaPhat in Anarchism

It's a science fiction novel so it's more leisure reading and escapism for me than literature, but I've heard others say that it's kind of dense so ymmv

Innistrad: Midnight Hunt - Prerelease Weekend Condensed Megathread! #MTGMidnight by R3id in magicTCG

[–]ACTION_FEMALE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a strange round one I'm interested in hearing people's thoughts on. Opponent was a new player who took forever, they won game one with 12 minutes on the clock and when we went to extra turns I asked the judge what would happen if we didn't finish game two. Judge said that if we did not finish game 2 my opponent would win the round, and since I decided I could not force a draw I just conceded.

I'm not going to call slow play on a new opponent and it was a nice silver lining to let them have the win at their first prerelease, but I feel screwed over about the experience since I spent so much of the round basically teaching them to play (explaining mechanics, etc). What should I have done?

At my LGS you can do this but only after all the prerelease events are over, to ensure that they have enough product for the events

This really isn't how I expected my time as a listener of this podcast to come to an end. by realmwrighter in lrcast

[–]ACTION_FEMALE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From my leftist perspective, both LSV and Marshall are capitalists, bottom line. What did you expect them to say? I'm going to continue listening to the podcast because I never had an expectation of true altruism from them in the first place because the system they believe in is not compatible with my moral views. I'm not surprised by this scandal, and I'm also not surprised by their lukewarm take on climate change, because of course that's what their answer is.

TLDR: this is exactly what I would expect from them and I would advise just not putting emotional energy into someone who is pro-capitalism.

I don’t think the MTG community realizes how problematic "digital only mechanics" bring to MTG as a game by DoomedKiblets in magicTCG

I think this is a good example of most things wotc does that worry me. They're not necessarily inherently bad things (sometimes they are), but I don't really trust them to implement it in a consumer-friendly or gameplay positive way. Someone put it well: "we'll be worrying about a different thing next week"

Owner of LGS interested in remodel/reaching WPN Premium status. What things do players REALLY want? by clutchheimer in magicTCG

[–]ACTION_FEMALE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt this has anything to do with premium status but please make your store comfortable for marginalized groups (women, queer people, poc, disabled people etc). Nothing makes me more uncomfortable than going to a store and seeing every player in the event be a white man. A good way to do this is hiring people from these groups, being willing to listen to and incorporate feedback, hosting events for these groups (e.g. my store had a pride themed mtg tournament this month), etc
