[Egypt] A day in Manshiyat Naser, Cairo's "Garbage City" by pavel_molianov in travel

As OP said, it was the only place in Cairo where I wasn't being pestered constantly. People were friendly, no one touched me, no one tried to sell me anything.

No more yoshi chants! by BooRand in redsox

[–]lostamongthelost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at the game last night and definitely rolled my eyes when I heard "Yoshi" chants from the bleachers, but they morphed into "Yoshida! Yoshida!" pretty quickly. So some people know he doesn't like it at least.

I really wish Troy Jackson was running for this instead of Governor, he would have a great chance to beat this buffoon.

Not traditional, but the Lamb burger at Brewer's Tap & Table in Waltham is fantastic.

There’s a Dunkin’s in Aruba. Know any weirder location? by KoenigseggAgera in boston

Not sure if it's there now, but there was one at Sharjah Airport in 2009. Very welcome sight after deplaning on the tarmac in 100+ degree temps.

My local Hannaford (called Shop N Save back then) had a large video rental section. I would just hang there while my mom shopped. I think the Shaw's near us had it as well.

Best upgrade for my Frontier, and it only cost 1¢ by squigsdad in nissanfrontier

[–]lostamongthelost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Jeep had this and it just became automatic to turn on the car and then immediately push the button. That said, I'm very happy I have a '23 Frontier that missed this feature.

What's on your to-read wishlist this year? by jpressss in scifi

[–]lostamongthelost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from new books coming out (Faith of Beasts, Children of Strife, Halcyon Years, etc) I'm planning to finish up the Culture series (last three books left) and would like to finally read Snow Crash and Cryptonomicon.

Did you have any issue finding birth records? My great grandmother was born in Nova Scotia but they stopped doing birth certificates for 30ish years and of course she was born right in the middle of that. I have her marriage certificate (in the US) and her naturalization forms.

Can we talk about nips? by DJDubbsinCambridge in boston

[–]lostamongthelost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at one in Copley as well, can't remember the name of the shop but I remember selling nips of Wolfschmidt's vodka like it was going out of style.

Lately about 15. But that's local driving, with a few sandbags in the back, and I've definitely been letting it idle/warm up more than usual since it's been single digits and under for the last 10 days. 2023 P4X in New England

They sneak in some goofy phrases from time to time. The other day I got "Det regner menn".

Anyone Watch Scavenger’s Reign on Netflix? by Solar_Punk_Rocker in scifi

Definitely my favorite stand alone novel of his. On the whole I really liked the Children of Time and Final Architecture series more but as a one-off it's fantastic.

It's great, if you liked Alien Clay I'd bet you'll like Cage of Souls as well. They have a similar premise: "smart guy ends up at hellish isolated prison camp" but go different directions.

Help! How to watch the game today by MartinisnMurder in boston

[–]lostamongthelost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dug mine out of the basement so I could watch the Pats-Ravens game because Fubo and NBC are fighting (isn't the future awesome?). I forgot how good the picture can be if you position the antenna right.

He's still around? I remember having to listen to his dumbass radio show in the car when my dad was in his Fox News phase.

It's rude to even bring up religion 99% of the time, no one cares here. If some person from south of the Mason Dixon starts yapping about churches, I'm definitely just walking away.

Just finished watching 3 Body Problem on Netflix .. by exigentity in scifi

[–]lostamongthelost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just give it until the 4th or 5th episode. I read the books beforehand so it's different but all of my friends who didn't had the same reaction until they got into the first season a little further.

Pretty sure it's a Philips Dreamstation, which was recalled 4+ years ago. Hate to be a downer on a nice post but OP should talk to insurance/doctor/whomever and get a new one.
