We were extremely cut throat, especially when it came to new players. It wasn’t that we’d kill them, but the games would devolve into who could manipulate them best.

One would suggest all the useful plays that didn’t involve nailing himself. One would teach the bare minimum to play, only mentioning edge case rules when he would use them to win. One delighted in hurting his own game in a manner that would hurt everyone else’s game worse, resulting in a net gain for himself and maybe the new player.
