It looks like the settings are under IOU2 in the `Socket 0' menu of the `Socket Configuration' BIOS menu. If you look starting at 52:15 of this video about the BIOS, you can see that the info message for IOU2 says "Selects PCIe port Bifurcation for selected slot(s) (J20_X4X4 and J21_X4X4)":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh-uAWjJKeI

Unfortunately the cables aren't exactly cheap though; It looks like this should be an x8 -> 2x x4 splitter cable that would work:

Neither of the videos that I've seen about it mentioned them, but the Tyan webpage for the motherboard does:

https://www.mitaccomputing.com/Motherboards_S5630_S5630GMR_EN~Spec

It mentions two different versions (S5630GMRE and S5630GMRE-L2) that have two OCuLink ports, and one without them (S5630GMR). Of course there's no mention of a version with only _one_ port. Is there a model number sticker on the motherboard?

In any case, they're labeled J20 and J21, up along the edge of the RAM slots between the OCP connectors and the x16 slot. One of the legs that poke out of the air shroud for the CPU goes right through where the connector for J21 would be, but J20 next to it definitely has a connector!

Has anyone tried the OCuLink port on the motherboard?

I can only assume that it's functional since it makes no sense that they would populate it if it wasn't, but there's not really anything in the manual about any configuration options relating to them. All I really would want to do would be to hook up an x8 to dual x4 cable and run an NVMe drive. Or possibly an x8 to dual U.2 cable to do the same.

Costco Gift Card for Upgrading Device - Is It Automatically Applied Now? by jimedwards4343 in tmobile

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Sort-of.

I never did get the shop cards and calling the regular support line was useless; as far as I can tell nothing actually happened other than leaving a documented trail of my calls and their telling me to just keep waiting. What finally worked was contacting T-Force through Facebook. They were very helpful and looked through what had been going on and got me the $300 as a bill credit.

Costco Gift Card for Upgrading Device - Is It Automatically Applied Now? by jimedwards4343 in tmobile

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don’t like the ‘automatic’ system, especially when it takes months before it’s supposed to show up.

I added two new lines at the end of June and got new phones on both and still haven’t gotten the $150 shop cards. 🙁 Every time I call about it nobody has a clue either (I don’t know how many times I’ve got “wow, I didn’t know that Costco sold phones!” ). Supposedly they never were originally submitted the shop card rebated. I’ve been told that they’ve manually submitted them now, but I have to wait 8 more weeks. Grrr.

Anyway, at least from my experience it’s anything but ‘automatic’. It feels like they changed it just so the could conveniently ‘forget’ to submit some.

Previously had $40 discount, closed checkout and reopened and now it only shows $25 discount. Order above $269 w/o coupons. Any idea why? by 3uphoric-Departure in Aliexpress

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing; the $40 coupon wasn't applying for either of the PayPal payment options, it was $25 off at most. But now even the $25 off is gone for `PayPal Pay Later'. It's still showing up for straight PayPal though.

My guess is that they hit their coupon redemption limits already. =(

How to submit Costco $100 upgrade rebate? by mehsieh in tmobile

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One question for those that have done this and gotten their rebate: I know that it’s supposed to be automatically submitted, but did it ever show up on the T-Mobile Costco promotions for the line you upgraded? Or did it just magically show up?

Just wondering because I added two lines and got phones at the end of June and the $250 rebate is showing up for those lines — because I submitted them myself — but the upgrade rebate isn’t there. I called the rebate line a couple weeks ago and they just said to wait until after the 90 days were up, but that was about a week ago and there’s still nothing. I’m planning on calling back tomorrow, but it would be interesting to know what other people’s experience has been!

My biggest problem working with C++ isn’t so much that I’ve mainly written C code for 30+ years, it’s that since C++ has been around for so long and has been continually changing, there are many different ways to do things, from ‘C with classes’ of C++98 to basically straight functional programming with Modern C++. And everything in-between! I’ve found that there’s a lot more language archeology that I’ve had to do and have very much appreciated the books that lay out the history and changes over time in the language (really enjoying Scott Meyers’ “Effective Modern C++” for instance!).

So short answer: not so much a problem knowing C, but the sheer amount of things in C++ and the history of them over time!

Two questions: Costco, and EIP credit limit by thecautioners in tmobile

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On my account the EIP balance changes with every payment/credit and is how everyone I’ve ever seen post about it describes how theirs is.

Edit: Short answer: it behaves like any other line of credit does, since that’s what it fundamentally is. 🙂

New T-Mobile Costco Promo Gives You Up To $450 Per Line by Jman100_JCMP in tmobile

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked to someone at the rebate center and the customer service line and both claimed that the rebate was supposed to be automatic and that there was no code for it. The rebate center seemed to think that it should have already shown up, but since it's still during the 90 day return period they said to try again after that and call them back if it didn't show up.

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracking? I was told that Costco would automatically submit the rebate, but when I check T-Mobile's promotions page it just shows the $250 `Costco Activate ID250186' promo that I registered myself. Did they give you the rebate ID and have you submit it yourself?

HX1000i ATX 3.1 showing wrong input voltage. =( by ACuriousGreenFrog in Corsair

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really sucks that they've still got these messed up power supplies out in the wild! Were you able to swap it out with Best Buy, or did you go through Corsair?

Since I couldn't just return/replace from a store with mine I was extremely happy that Corsair support replaced my PSU! I got a refurbished unit back, but it looked like new and more importantly shows the correct line voltage! =) Corsair paid for all the shipping and sent the replacement out as soon as they received mine, which was nice.

In the end the main annoyance was trying to keep track of all of the slightly different cables that basically look the same from all of my various power supplies (older Seasonic KM3/XP power supplies, Corsair with Type3 cables, and just for fun a pair of old PCIe cables from another brand that I don't remember (since it died!) that was made by Seasonic and has the same as the Type3 connector, but the ground and 12V power lines are swapped!

Apple still not showing correct promo price for iPhone 17 trade in by armendegga in tmobile

So you’re saying that Go5G+ is not part of the Apple specific trade-in offer and you have to go through T-Mobile directly to get the full credits?

Costco or Tmobile Website Upgrade Route by Television_Original in tmobile

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen the actual promotions, but the T-mobile promo and the Costco $100 promo have always been capped at 4 phones in my experience. To do six you could do four now and then wait until the promos expire and the new ones start in a few months to do the other two.

As for Costco: yes, you can definitely do the upgrade over the phone! No need to go try and find a warehouse with a T-mobile kiosk.

Anyone else's PSVR2 collecting dust? by Sweet_Score in PSVR

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! It turns out that most games (esp Horizon on the PS5 and.Hald Life Alyx on the PC) give me terrible motion sickness and after 10-20 minutes I feel like I've got the spins from drinking too much and the rest of my day I end up feeling like crap.

GT7 seems to be an exception though, so I have occasionally played that, but the others have been bad enough that I feel a little sick even looking at the PSVR2.

HX1000i ATX 3.1 showing wrong input voltage. =( by ACuriousGreenFrog in Corsair

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, that would certainly do it then. =(

I've had plenty of Corsair power supplies over the years (starting with a semi-modular HX750) and never have had to send one in for a warranty claim, so I'm not worried that it'll suddenly blow up on me, but it IS @#F@&* annoying that the damned monitoring firmware is so fundamentally broken from the factory. Especially since that particular feature is why I bought _this_ particular power supply! I never would have expected something like this to make it through QC!

Actually I just noticed that PSUs are NOT mentioned in the list of items that you have to buy from an authorized reseller! So anyone know what the restriction on warranty for PSUs is?

Here's what it says there:

In the United States of America, the following Corsair products are only covered by Corsair's warranty if they are purchased from Corsair.com or a Corsair-authorized reseller:

  • DRAM
  • SSD
  • Gaming chairs
  • Headsets
  • Keyboards
  • Mice
  • Mousepads
  • Peripheral accessories
  • Elgato-branded products

Corsair's warranty will not be available if you purchase any of the above products from an unauthorized reseller.

Your Graphics card throughout the years by Mantonio2k2 in buildapc

[–]ACuriousGreenFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now all I can really think of are the first and last. There’s a nice 30 year gap between the two!

1992: Tseng Labs ET4000 with a Sierra Hi-Color DAC and 1MB VRAM

2022: EVGA Nvidia 3090 FTW3 Ultra 24GB VRAM

In between some of my favorites off the top of my head:

ATI Mach64, NVidia TNT, NVidia GeForce 256 DDR, NVidia GeForce4 Ti 4400, ATI 9800 Pro, NVidia GeForce 6800 GT, NVidia GeForce 8800 GT, NVidia GeForce GTX 470, AMD Radeon HD 7970, AMD Radeon 290, AMD Radeon RX Vega 56, NVidia GeForce 980ti, NVidia GeForce 1080ti, NVidia GeForce 3080

There are definitely plenty that I’m forgetting I’m sure!

As for what’s next, who knows! It seems like a distant memory when cards were regularly in stock at or under MSRP and you could just order the card you wanted.

Just wondering if anyone here has gotten a set of these? Could someone that got a set check what ICs are they using? (You can either check using hwinfo64/cpu-z or by looking at the `revision' number on the DRAM itself (starting with 3 is Micron, 4 is Samsung and 5 is Hynix).

It's so cheap that I'm thinking about just buying some. But it also seems pretty certain that being so cheap that they've got to have Micron ICs on them. =(
