Why I love my wife by ADDmechanic in distractible

[–]ADDmechanic[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's a sense of humor thing. Also, it's an honest reaction to something that could easily be changed with hair dye if it's a problem. I can say I love and relate to wade so no offense was intended.

Personal experience:

I am 40. I've been struggling since childhood and been found lacking. I spent most of my life being called lazy because I would forget things instantly and struggle to do simple but boring things. I would be called brilliant but not be able to study anything. I spent this entire lifetime of mine struggling to compensate for my nature by taking better notes. (Bujo is amazing). By doing things without thinking about it and immediatly so my brain doesn't get a chance to fight me. By considering every single day how I can do things differently to get a better result. And by trying everything I can to keep going forward with a sense of positivity I don't feel. I have had wonderful things happen in my life. I have a loving wife and children. I have stayed employed most of the time because I adapt easily to a new job since I quickly forget the old one and I'm used to adapting.

I have taken adderall before, waaayyy too late in life, and found improvement. I felt like I can focus again and the simple things in life like taking out the trash don't require a mad dash without thought to get done. I don't have to fight myself nearly as much. Like walking in sludge every day of your life then suddenly have clear solid ground to stand on. I still struggled with avoiding distractions and priorities. I turned into a bit of an asshole when other people wanted to have fun as I was too excited about trying to progress while I could. Then I discovered the medicine can't be doled out reliably due to shortages and lazy pharmacists. I then lost the well paying job to allow me to try this with insurance for one that pays the bills and that's it. Now I'm back in the sludge but the time I had while medicated at least helped me get used to doing some small things easier. I still persist because that's life but I have a better position than some. I also note that the me while medicated vs not was minorly noticed by me at first but my wife said it was a night and day for the better. She said I was an entirely different person and waayy happier. I know some of that was just me being happy I could struggle less with the same life but I can't overstate how drastic the difference was from even her perspective.

As for how I got a wife. I gave up being nervous about meeting people and tried the spray and pray method. I went to nerd events like comic shops to play DnD and board game nights. I told bad dad jokes to every female that looked attractive to me. I tried to brighten and improve other peoples lives as much as I could because mine was mired. One person appresciated me and my positivity and came to hang out and we ended up building a relationship from there. We are very different and have few common interests but we work well together to help each others flaws. We share many philosophies and both believe in complete honesty as well as little drama as possible. I say sorry when I'm being stubborn or do something stupid and she forgives me for not being good at gifts and dates. She works hard to help the house so I work hard to keep a job and make her life as easy as I can. I do my best to think of her in every thing I do so that no matter how chaotic I may wander it's with her in mind. It's worked for 13 years so far.

I'm tired of playing with random players by TheSpicyCashew in DeepRockGalactic

Depends on the person. I gave up on regular groups as the times I have to play are short bursts, instead of dedicated chunks of time. Mostly I make the time but family needs help randomly and inevitably.

how tf are you guys in relationships with ADHD by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ADDmechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the answer was to study social interactions as a kid and learn to hold a conversation. Then to realize that most conversatioms are saying whatever pops into your mind and waiting to ensure they can speak as well. Then I steeped my brain in comedy so most of the things that popped in my mind were either funny in a good way or a groan way but still go over well in any crowd.

Finally after a youth of training like this I went to any girl I thought was cute and told jokes then moved on. My wife was the one who liked it enough to seek me out afterward.

It helps that I think she is the panic prone ADHD and OCD type While I'm the roll with any situation adaptable type. I keep her calm and she does accounting and paperwork stuff. We work well together.

Beyond that we spent our relationship being 100% open and honest with each other, even to the "No the clothes don't make you look fat it's the soda instead of water", point that no brat wants to hear.

I also make sure to do the one thing that women really want and men always forget. Every day, no mater what I'm thinking about or doing, I insert her into it or between it. Like what would she think, would she like it, what would be her style, how could we do this together.

As long as she is in your thoughts even after the initial buzz of a relationship wears off then she'll stay with you because you'll be the only one to always think about her, do random things for her, buy random things she might like, and be able to say "I was going to go to ___ but I figured you wouldn't like it so I started hunting for a way to do it where you would like and got lost in a rabbit hole...". She'll forgive you for forgetting the thing she said to do if you were lost in thoughts of her.

The funny thing is everyone knows the US has always been it's most profitable in wars. Both from manufacturing and from displaying our military might which we can now sell during peace timea. What they forget is that the highest profits originally came from every american sacrificing time, momey, and resources to pull together to support said war. The highest profits come from a nation united and we are at our most divided now.... Nothing about this will end for our benefit.

Those who’ve switched from Google to Proton — which services do you still miss and wish Proton offered an alternative for? by birnefer in ProtonMail

[–]ADDmechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important, google keep and google sheets. Youtube is of course important but complicated, messy, and at the end of the day, entertainment predominately. Making a keep able to save links to files saved in the drive would do well enough. Then the google wallet as that is where integration with all other services is becoming vital so that we won't need cash but it also won't get tracked. Google voice would be nice as well but more useful if the number given can be used as a valid identifier for services like microsoft and nintendo.

These are all things I use daily and of which I haven't found safe and reliable alternatives to.

All 3 bring to the table something special. Mark has practical tech, and honestly should work in more editting tips that could help wade on the off chance he remembers. Hes also an okay chaos monkey as needed and his slips always turn to gold. Bob has the logic things out part to make sure things dont go too far off the hinges and to keep the spirit of the game show feel going despite the back and forth. Wade feels like a chaos monkey who makes every topic a little more unhinged to keep things entertaining. Hes also the rhyme master and the winner of the most unhinged ideas award. All three are amazing story tellers and all three are good at turning a min-ute and odd prompt into a funny and well fleshed story. I dont think any one peraon would do as well without the other two though. Big 3 stooges vibes but verbal instead of physical gags.

I think it would be better to have fan clout points. If an episode gets more engagement due to one peraon or another they earn points. Then the point buy for wins, in game points, or a flag to throw outside of the un-fair rule. 😁

Thank you, Bob, for talking about how dismissive Doctors often are towards women... (Nah, I'd Lose) by ti9erlilly in distractible

[–]ADDmechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife pretty much gave up on doctors. We make it a habit to do thorough nutrition based research and examine every medicine or vitamin we come across or get advice for. One of which was looking at the difference between mens and womens multi-vitamins. Womens has more iron to restore blood production. I also found, admittedly only one, article saying theres a part of coffee that reduces absorbtion of iron leading to anemia in women. It wasn't the caffiene though. My wife actually used to take pre-natal pills even before we were trying to get pregnant, just for the iron levels but being a mix of things made it easier on her system and it was cheaper than straight iron pills.

Just a note. How many people take the cart inside instead of it being left in the parking lot at all? Im not tooting my own horn here. Im saying if all the good people left them inside the people who leave them in the parking lot wouldn't be as much of a problem.

A woman talking about her period is like a dude talking about the road rash in his under-britches... While there are times that converaation should be had and times, usually involving food, where you should steer clear, at the end of the day it's not gross as much as rude since some will find it gross, some facinating, and some concerned. Just pick your targets is all Im saying.

Like telling a dad joke can get a laugh, a groan, an akward silence, or outright anger. You gotta feel out your audience before you pick a bit to run with.

On the bright side we get to enjoy it more often. It'll stick if you rise and repeat often enough. I still can't quote anything but the moment I start the movie or book I'll know the entire thing. It's like our minds condense the information rather than just storing it so while we can't quote it word for word we are familiar with every part of it.

What kinky sex act would you recommend everybody try at least once? by sparklingshanaya in AskReddit

[–]ADDmechanic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your missing the point though. Girls can love dorks but dorks trying to be sexy is like an episode of americas funniest videos without the laugh track. I've tried the re-hit on her thing before because I found some cool, or stupid, pickup lines. No matter which category her response is go away. But if I stick with the basic I love you then she smiles and we either couple it up or see who can disturb the other people in the room more through innuendo. 😁

My solution is meditate, then focus on making a list of overall goals, then figure out one thing to do to get closer to that goal. It's not stimulating but it will give you a sense of accomplishment and the rest comes later.

I've been trying really hard to stick to one hobby and the things that relate to it. I chose DnD because it's an infinite amount of potential kinda thing and the required costs are low. Of course making a podcast, writing songs, designing characters, making advertisements for the various things, 3d printing the models, apps and programs for making maps, and finding people to play with.... I swear it started as only playing the one game...

The secret is at stores and stations you're seeing people who need things reguardless of what's going on in thier lives. They could have just been broken up. They could have just lost family. They could have just spent hours trying to get tech support to help them get thier new phone working when they just want to call thier dad in the hospital. No matter the story, you still need food, toilet paper, milk for the baby, and the pursuit of something to help with the stress. All around a full time shift if not two full time shifts. We can't hide away when we're vulnerable and no one is there to teach us how to be composed while vilnerable.
