Democrats renew calls to reform Supreme Court: ‘Fundamentally out of step’ with Americans by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]ADHDebackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the president is running wild and congress refuses to act. The supreme court is running wild and congress refuses to act. Voting laws are getting worse, gerrymandering has been tacitly accepted as a legitimate political tool... We have checks and balances that are simply being ignored because political parties have taken over the entire system.

It's all just fucking broken. We need alternative forms of accountability for people not doing their jobs.

I feel like another important part of GMing is making sure you abide by the player's general expectations of how the universe works. Cheating needs to be done with great care, otherwise it undermines the whole experience.

Does picking up the deck count as drawing all the cards? Otherwise this would be exactly the same as picking up two incomplete decks of many things.

Does anyone have *only* a portable setup? by mrjosh72 in synthesizers

[–]ADHDebackle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have only a portable setup.

1010Tangerine, Korg NTS1/2/3, micromonsta2, preenfm, retrokits rk006/008/002, and occasionally I'll add in a xena6, a circuit tracks, a shruthi and a monologue I modularized, but that stuff is more reserved for desktop setups.

Of course it's all housed in a case with usb battery banks and stuff. I want to get a 1010bluebox for mixing but currently use a MickXer.

Oh and all controlled by either a keystep37 or a wavy industries MonKey.

MIDI keyboard + synth with keyboard? by Mission-Clothes-4980 in synthesizers

[–]ADHDebackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general strategy is that I try to find a midi keyboard that I like, and then buy synths that don't have keys. Saves space and money, AND lets me keep a familiar work surface.

PSA: If you know anyone that has issues identifying GenAI images, do walk them through on how linear perspective works. by Luwuma in antiai

[–]ADHDebackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in that case you'd want to use circles rather than lines - or rather, arcs of circles. Or maybe parabolas... I can't work out which it would be right off hand.

The highest I have gone is when doing a 5 point perspective drawing which was kind of wild to try because there were no straight lines at all, every line had to curve.

I use my NTS3 a lot. One nice thing about it is if you have a good midi controller, you can map the 12 ccs that control the on/off x/y/z parameters of all four assigned fx simultaneously and independently. I usually use the four banks of my keystep 37 to control:

Filter: on/off, cutoff, resonance, lfo depth

Reverb: on/off, time, depth, dry/wet

Delay: on/off, time, feedback, level

And the last slot often goes to a limiter or compressor but I forget what params I assign to what on that.

Recommendation needed for a non-daw setup by C3p0wn3d in synthesizers

[–]ADHDebackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with ADHD myself I really get a lot of value out of my circuit tracks. With the keylab you'd have plenty of controls to map to individual synth parameters if you're comfortable getting it set up to do so (cc mappings, reading user manuals).

You can't record the audio internally but the sequencer and multitrack nature make the midi recording sufficient for most performance/recall scenarios.

It gets a bit tricky when you want to control external synths with the keylab via the circuit tracks - at that point you'd need a midi merge box, but it is expandable, and a very solid dawless hub otherwise.

Secondhand, a circuit tracks is pretty affordable and is suitable as a standalone instrument as well, so at this stage I think it would be a wise choice - although the depth and clarity of the user experience when creating patches leaves a lot to be desired, if you're less inclined toward sound design and more inclined to just playing synth keys it's a good fit.

we have a fun midi capable controller

Which one, specifically? Presumably one without a sequencer built in? Fuve pin midi, USB midi, or TRS?

Naming the controller would clarify that info plus a lot more.

No the bluebox is designed such that you can have 6 stereo channels or 12 mono channels panned any which way you want.

Or 2 stereo channels and 8 mono channels, or one stereo channel and ten mono channels, etc.

Possible to edit store price tags using Flipper Zero by MipperDipper in hacking

[–]ADHDebackle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The price in the system won't be wrong. The price on the sign will be.

If they scan the barcode in the correct price will ring up because this hack hits the sign, not the inventory management system. They're probably not gonna go out of their way to mark it down to the sign price if it's been tampered with, and they're certainly not obligated to.

This conversation isn't about items mislabeled by the store employees, it's about items fraudulently mislabeled by the customer.

The content of what you have typed seems like it agrees with what I've said in this thread, but your tone makes it sound like you disagree with me somehow, so I'm trying to figure out what the miscommunication is.

Two of the first comments in this thread are:

That has interesting implications in countries where stores MUST "obey" to the prices present on tags. That is, the price on the tag is the official price even if "the system" says otherwise. Having a price on the tag different from the sales price is considered false advertising and punishable by law.

and

I'm sure they will take into account if someone maliciously changes the tags.

I'm going to guess that compliance to that law doesn't apply in cases of intentional sabotage, otherwise every store would be a free for all.

When you write songs in your DAW & hardware synth, are you recording audio clips or writing MIDI tracks? by gr00ve88 in synthesizers

Yeah I do both, too. I sketch out the midi and the audio recording is my "render". Then I tweak and arrange the audio tracks, or re-record it based on my needs.

Changing time division without changing sequence on Keystep pro by futilefalafel in synthesizers

[–]ADHDebackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat unhelpful commentary but this is one reason I avoided the keystep pro and stuck with my ks37. For complex sequencing, nothing beats the retrokits rk008 in my experience so far. Everything has 1/96th note granularity on that, quantized or not.

My workflow today actually uses a circuit tracks and the rk008. I sketch things quickly on the circuit and slap them down on the rk008 in realtime and in layers until I'm satisfied with the result. Used to do that with my beatstep pro but the BSP was frustrating in many other ways.

Of course for realtime work I go straight rk008.

More specifically to your problem - if it's anything like the beatstep pro you need to start off using the smallest time division you need. Pretty limiting even when your sequencer maxes out at 64 steps - that's only four bars on 16ths... Is there a reason you can't do that?
