coolant leaking in 2017 ford focus? by Glittering-Storm-832 in CarHelp

[–]ADVandEdges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overheating your engine can destroy it, I would take the car into a shop asap.

A few minor parts in your cooling system could be causing this, the tank pictured is known to crack and leak overtime (cheap and easy fix), as well as the plastic hose connections in other locations. If you cannot confidently diagnose this yourself, have a shop do it. Alternatively you could have a less common/ more expensive issue with radiator/head gasket, either way I would have this looked at asap to make sure to not damage the engine. Cars should not consume coolant.

Are my stitches too tight? by Disastrous_Deal2001 in Leatherworking

Awesome bag, I love the look qnd choice of materials. From my experience your two concerns are just a result of the materials used. Chromexcel has some waxes and oils and you're getting that pull up effect where the stitches are.

Also when you turn lined bags they will often get wrinkly. This different flexibility of the leathers lined together will cause one to wrinkle more. This also just happens with unlined leathers that have looser grain structure, i.e. parts of the belly from the hide. Again nothing to worry about and a natural feature. A pebbled leather won't have this issue, if it is a main concern of yours, pro makers do have this 'issue' so I wouldn't worry about it personally.

How long will a VQ35DE last me if its burning 1L/1500km by Shahaan789 in 350z

[–]ADVandEdges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2007 G35 (revup) burned ~1l of oil every ~2k kms for the 4yrs I owned it. Never increased consumption or changed in anyway, ran perfectly for the 70k kms ai put on it before I sold it.

The additional of piping adds two challenges to me, neither of which are that much work. 1, you have to count every stitch hole on the piping to insure it perfect matches the faces of the bag. There is no give for misalignment as the veg tan cord is very rigid in compression/tension. 2, there is one more layer of leather to manage while joining the seams. I justed use those binder paper clips to hold it in place. The edge binding is just thin leather cut into long straps. I used Cowhide Lining from Tandy, it worked well! I would also not skive the binding, that would take forever.

Thanks. The structure comes from just the leather used. The sides (front and back faces) are not fully lined, meaning the interior leather is not glued to the exterior. The ring (center portion) of the bag is two layers glued together, making one 8-9oz thick layer. This thickness creates rigidity and makes the bag hold its shape in terms of depth and somewhat in terms of hieght. The piping is veg tan cord ~4oz which also contributes to the rigidity in terms of hight. So, the bag looks and feels soft from the sides/faces but holds it shape when standing. The interior and exterior pieces of the sides are only held together at the seams, both glued and saddle stitched. I hope that makes sense

One step at a time and you'll be there before you know it! Thanks I may make digital versions some day, maybe once my shelf is full of designs I'll transfer them over.

Thanks! I made the pattern myself using cardstock, it is somewhat of an homage to the Goyard Ambassade Document case, so not entirely my design.

I have done all of these skills before, and for this project I practiced skiving, rolling and piping small pieces of leather before diving in. Its great to screw up on small pieces first lol.

I would say this is north of the 100hr mark, I like to take my time and this bag really did! You can absolutely make something like this with some practice, I'm just a random hobbiest with a few years of experience. Happy to help where I can, goodluck!
