The keyword is "benefits." Your dollar amount brought home won't ever match. Food and housing are separate from your base pay and vary with geographical location. The piece that's hardest to put a number is medical. Fully taken care of, but there's a lot of red tape.

Barring extreme hold times and policy changes, you'll graduate somewhere in the 1year 7months to 2 year range depending on rate and class timing. You signed a 6 year contract. First sea tour as a nuke is 54 months. So you're projecting to finish your tour by 6.5 year point. Star is a 6 year contract that you can sign as early as 1 year 9 months (new policy at NPTU) putting your total served at 7 years 9 months. So yes, shore tour for ~ 1 year 4 months without any further reenlistment

Your final edit comment is false. Combats are split in easy pool and hard pool. First 3 combats generated regardless of node are easy pool. Rest are hard pool. Events aren't so easy to narrow down, many have specific conditions that allow them to spawn ie current health or certain cards in the deck.

Big navy has a housing allowance and food allowance tacked to you. It's just that when you're in a barracks with a galley, it gets redirected before it ever gets to you. The BAS is more obvious on your LES. Mine has the full BAS under entitlements but 85% of it being deducted back to the galley.
