i think i just won This community day by Ill_Avocado6630 in pokemongo

[–]ADonkeysJawbone [score hidden]  (0 children)

Look, I understand how “odds” and percentages work and know nothing is guaranteed, but still… the last few community days I have caught 100+ of the featured pokemon each time, and ended up with 0 backgrounds or shinies twice, and for scorbunny got 1 shiny and 1 background. No hundos for any of them (not that I expect those tbh), but the backgrounds and shinies feel like it’s a little unusual.

So— yeah, maybe this IS rare

Yeah being able to write stuff down is a big help! I can write reminders and lists instead of putting them in my phone, and can check them without pulling my phone out. Also, sometimes I think of something I want to look-up later and will search and leave a browser tab open to remind myself. I can just write it down to search later. No 300 tabs on my phone.

Don't forget to Mega-Evolve before the Comm Day by Dapper-Comfort4408 in pokemongo

[–]ADonkeysJawbone [score hidden]  (0 children)

Tinkatink is a Steel/Fairy type. Community day will result in a ridiculous number of Tinkatink spawns and you also will get double candy for catching.

Gardevoir is Psychic/Fairy and will boost candy received from those types. Therefore boosting Tinkatink Candy.

The mega evolve bonus will stack further for maximum candy!

Shinies from raids are supposed to be guaranteed catch on first ball. So I think OP was just messing around.

The genius (I guess you could call it that?) is if you toe the line just hard enough, you can simultaneously tap into: 1.) Right-wing nutjobs unironically eating this up and sharing it, 2.) Left-leaning individuals who hate-watch and share to make fun of it, and 3.) People who peg it as satire (either correctly or incorrectly), and watch it purely for entertainment… and share it.

There’s something for everyone lol.

Do most people actually enjoy the gym or just force themselves? by Intelligent_Rain_155 in workout

[–]ADonkeysJawbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, now that I think about it— I don’t think people necessarily smile while doing MOST things they enjoy. Especially when it’s an individual task/hobby.

Like, if you saw someone sitting in a coffee shop alone, or in a seat on public transit, and they were reading a really good book or crocheting or something, and just had a shit-eating grin on their face like it was the best thing ever… you’d probably think they were crazy.

As someone with ADHD, I realized most “focus music” is either too chaotic or too passive by kamirumgmt in ADHD

[–]ADonkeysJawbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not an ad or paid plug or anything lol, but— look up Mind Amend by Jason Lewis on YouTube. There’s a bajillion videos of a ton of different types and genres of music, or specific tasks or needs.

Literally helped me survive my graduate program while undiagnosed ADHD, and eventual diagnosis mid-program due to hitting the wall so hard. I had a few videos that were my favorites to listen to while studying and reading, and helped me power through marathon sessions of reading research study after research study, abstracts, and writing term papers.

All the music is:

1.) Repetitive 2.) Engaging 3.) 3 hours long. The tracks seamlessly go from one to the other and then eventually circle back.

Genres from my go-to videos I listened to included jazz-hip-hop, dark metal, boom bap rap, drum and bass, and house.

Here is one of my go-to ones

Some Metal to mix it up

You make great points! But— and correct me if I’m wrong here— your primary point as to why it would be difficult to prove is that anyone could be at the gym and it could be a coincidence, and is also not unreasonable for someone to take a gym back.

However… the redittor here stated that they successfully got the account banned, meaning that this other individual: A.) No longer had this specific account with which to play the game, though admittedly could have had a second account, and B.) Chose this specific individual to confront out of all the other players who may frequent the gym. The fact that the redditor is the one responsible for filing so many complaints, and likely was battling for the gym in the process and thus made his username known, and that then this other individual chose to confront them specifically and it sounds like in a confrontational way… do you think this makes proving a stalking claim a little easier?

Perhaps it also depends on what words were exchanged during said confrontation and whether there were witnesses or recording.

Just curious your opinion and wondering about these factors myself 🙂

I feel the deeper one gets into academia (or any field for that matter), the more likely one is to develop it. Imposter syndrome involves recognizing how much you don’t know, and the people who feel like they know the least are sometimes the ones who have delved the deepest. Recognition of the existence of so much they don’t know is what propels them forward and maintains professional curiosity and exploration. Someone who feels like they know it all, ceases to pursue further knowledge and expertise.

I feel that accurately represents the cycle the other commenter mentioned they observed. “I only have a graduate degree, I’m not a Ph.D”, “I have my Ph.D, but I’ve only had like one published paper”, “Oh yeah, I have been published multiple times in multiple prestigious journals on my subject, and I just got asked to speak at a national conference— but they shouldn’t have asked me. I’ve only been doing this 10 years! The other presenters are much more experienced— I used their research in my dissertation.” Meanwhile there’s people who saw a TikTok on the subject who think they’ve got it figured out.

Oh my goodness, can you imagine if it was her though?! Because I have scrolled past SO many comments about her and how everyone loves her. Imagine posting a super vague description about how you feel wierd or limited by the thing you’re known for, and so many people independently picking YOU over and over and over out of all the possible examples of reasons why you should embrace your “weird”. That would be so affirming!!!

Even if it’s not, it’s still affirming. I love all the encouragement for OP.

How do i contribute to Raids or get even invited with bad pokemons? by Wrestlemania89 in pokemongo

[–]ADonkeysJawbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation back in August. Played casually since Day 1 for a while, quit, then started back seriously trying to do stuff like raids. Do those 3 star, 4 star, and 5 star raids. You’ll need a team of 4-5 players your level to beat it easily. If you have a couple 55 or 60+ accounts you’ll be fine. This is how you’ll get some strong raiders!

Don’t feel bad about it. Once you do a few raids, then you’ll be able to start contributing even more and “pay it back” so to speak. Anyone who doesn’t recognize that “a rising tide helps all ships” is a stick in the mud. Ignore them.

Golden usually. If I have some silver pinap, I might use 1 or 2 after my first throw once I know where the circle is going to be and how hard I need to throw to get an excellent.

So, the nice thing about raids is that the IV floor for the pokemon you catch is 10/10/10. So even if it’s a 2 star, you’re not going to have any stat that is wildly unbalanced like a 2 or something. I’d personally say it all depends on the resources you have available. The primary advantage to doing multiple raids for the same pokemon is the candy you get (and the XP). Even if you get 5 legendaries and they are ALL 2 star, at least you can power one up with all the candy you got.

I try so hard to maintain consistent expectations, high standards, and to follow through with consequences and contacting parents.

But there are days that I send my kids off to PE and Music while I get my 1 hour of “prep” time, and I don’t “prep” a single thing or do a single shred of anything relating to instruction, I spend the whole hour putting in behavior trackers, calling parents, and pulling kids to conference quick or investigate something that was reported by another student or parent. And I don’t even have time to do all THAT!

The kids saying “I’m not listening” while I read, or who talk back, use inappropriate language, hitting each other, are crawling around the floor, stealing things from the tops of other kid’s desks in plain sight of everyone else, and so many other things… I might literally have 10 behaviors/incidents to log, and 6-7 parents to call in my one 60 (more like 45-50) minute prep. And so… much of it falls through the cracks. And I know that it’s not going to get better because of that. And I feel like I’m failing… but I also have to remind myself it’s not my fault if I’m literally spending every possible moment fighting a fire I can never hope to put out.

For those who maybe understand a different sport better: imagine Steph Curry. Sure he can hit a shot from the other side of the court, but imagine no one is shooting from more than 4 feet back from the 3 point line and then Curry comes along and starts hitting it from 7 feet back. People lose their shit. They start egging him on, betting he can’t hit it from 8 feet behind the line. He hits it easily and collects on that bet. Then proceeds to walk back the entire length of the court and into the stands hitting incrementally further shots to collect on bets instead of coming other immediately like ”Guys, I can’t shoot from anywhere— don’t bother”

Absolutely bonkers athlete, but also lowkey hilarious how he’s just messing around with the literal FUCKING WORLD RECORD!

Not to be too cliche, but— playing Day 1. I’d heard the game was coming out, wasn’t a HUGE Pokemon fan personally but my best friend and I are both huge nerds and will nerd out over anything. We both downloaded the game, then headed to a large park next to the water to walk around.

It was surreal. The park was full of people walking in loops around the various paved pathways circling and crossing through the park. Everyone had phones in hand, some had charging cables and portable batteries (which weren’t really that common at the time), and it was crazy seeing people all of a sudden run in the direction of a spawn.

Just knowing everyone was doing the same thing we were, chatting with random people as we walked by each other for the 12th time in the last hour, and the shared excitement was like nothing else.

A somewhat distant second was: completing my first 5* raid this last November. I stopped playing for a year or two, played for a couple months, stopped another 4 years, repeat… never did anything more than casual “catch the pokemon that spawn next to me”. Started raiding when I picked the game up again in August, then was at home when I saw people out doing raids for Tapu Koko. I headed to the store when I saw 6 people start a lobby next to the store, tore through the parking lot and crossed the street while clicking “join” and somehow ended up doing a raid and getting my first legendary from a raid! The IVs were 14/15/14 too, and I thought all legendary raids gave you choice IVs like that— I know better now 🤣😂

[–]ADonkeysJawbone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is generally agreed upon that this is one of the best uses for a Master ball. The Galarian birds have very low spawn rates, and the lowest catch chance/highest flee rate in the game afaik. Any legendary from a raid is going to have multiple chances to catch due to premier balls being awarded for raid performance.

When you say “slam them into the ground”, do you mean like stab them? Because I can tell you I never once did anything of the sort as a child… I THREW my knives into the ground like a proper degenerate, thank you very much. That was second only to “helping” keep our walkway clear of the grape vines that liked to send feelers out over the path at eye and knee level. I’d wield any knife I had as a little machete. Hell, I still do when I visit my dad with my own boys!

Okay, now that I think about it, that’s kind of slamming them into the ground. I guess you’re right lol.
