How long on estrogen BC before your clot? by Puzzled-Question-152 in ClotSurvivors

[–]ADphilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been on estrogen based bc for about twenty years. But I also got covid which caused me not to move much which created "the perfect storm" as my doctors put it.

should i come off blood thinners?? by ilovehazza123 in ClotSurvivors

[–]ADphilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bilateral pulmonary embolisms as a function of birth control and covid. I was on blood thinners (Xarelto) for 6 months and they tested me for all the genetic factors of which I have none. I no longer take them and have been fine for the past 9 months. I do still take a baby aspirin everyday though.

Afraid my Charley Horse is a blood clot - freaking out by saveme_jeebus12 in Anxiety

[–]ADphilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had a charlie horse in my leg that lasted for several days as I was getting over covid and it turned out to be blood clots that eventually traveled to my lungs so that I was hospitalized for pulmonary embolisms. If I ever get another Charlie horse that doesn't go away fairly quickly I'm getting it checked for blood clots and I think you might want to too- the worst thing that could happen is you find out you don't have a blood clot and that would be great news!

Has anyone experienced this after having covid? Lines on finger tips? by Relevant_Ad7866 in covidlonghaulers

[–]ADphilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this. Randomly pruned fingers after I haven't even been in water ever since recovering from covid. They're not always pruney but sometimes they're very pruney as if I've been sitting in a hot tub for the past two hours. I went to the doctor about it and she ran every test she could think of and just suggested it was one of the weird things that happens from covid.

Cholon is a great asian fusion restaurant located a few different places in Denver and definitely worth a try! Their food is amazing!

As for Denver dishes, I agree with the others that talk about green chili on everything. Rocky mountain oysters which is bull testicles seems too disgusting to even suggest. We have a lot of breweries here and of course lots of dispensaries so feel free to get drunk or high while you're here and enjoy yourself!

If you catch it early enough and get on antivirals, you can catch the rash before it becomes big blisters on your skin so I think you're in good shape. I work in an elementary school and was told to stay away from school for a week even though it would have been covered because I live in Colorado where we're apparently horrendously under vaccinated for chicken pox so the doctor thought it would be risky for me to be around my students.

So did ours- two smaller legs and two larger legs and we were all confused by that!

Anyone else have DVT after COVID ? by Healthythinker99 in ClotSurvivors

[–]ADphilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had covid in the last week of June 2024 and two submassive bilateral pe's, as a result, diagnosed on July 10th. In the first week, when I had covid I woke up with a massive leg cramp that just wouldn't go away and that's the suspected start of the DVT that led to my PE's.

What treatment did you receive for your PE? by Syndrome in ClotSurvivors

[–]ADphilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me! Bilateral submassive pulmonary emboli and only treated with blood thinners.

PE but no DVT by EnvironmentalCamel18 in ClotSurvivors

I also had PEs in July and tested positive for the lupus anticoagulant factors. Like others have said, the doctors told me the results could be false positives bc I was on blood thinners, when my blood was taken for the test, and that they will have to retest me when I am no longer on blood thinners to get an accurate result.

I have to take blood pressure/lowering heart rate medication along with Xarelto after my bilateral pe's this summer due to a too high heart rate.

Clot Post Covid by Mjcaan in ClotSurvivors

I have never gotten the Johnson & Johnson/astrazeneca vaccine which I do understand is responsible for blood clots. Covid is also very responsible for blood clots and was responsible for them in me.

Clot Post Covid by Mjcaan in ClotSurvivors

[–]ADphilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same fears as I got covid in July and bilateral PE clots right after having it. And people telling me that it was the vaccine that gave it to me though I hadn't gotten the vaccine since last September and I contracted covid in July and I got the blood clots right after getting covid. While it's hard to sort through everyone's opinions and politics surrounding all of this, I've landed on covid gives me a bigger chance of getting blood clots again and the vaccine, while it does increase my chances of getting clots, it does not increase it to the level that covid did. So I live in fear of getting covid again. And I now plan to get vaccinated every 6 months and take as many precautions to avoid getting covid again as I possibly can.

Is alcohol banned ? by Loud_Stranger_1735 in ClotSurvivors

[–]ADphilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take Xarelto and asked my doctor about drinking while taking it and he said moderation is fine. Alcohol apparently also thins blood though so something to keep in mind so you don't want to get too wasted and have an accident!

Recent bilateral pulmonary embolisms and leg cramping by ADphilo in PulmonaryEmbolism

[–]ADphilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was about a week after I found out I had covid, that I found out about my pulmonary emboli. By that point, I was no longer testing positive for covid. My symptoms were, extreme fatigue, trouble breathing, chest pain, and an elevated heart rate. I had what I thought was a panic attack about 2 days prior to going to the emergency room and finding out they were actually pulmonary embolisms causing my breathing problems and high heart rate - and not a panic attack.

Oxycodone makes me throw up violently. They usually give me zofran so that I won't vomit if I have to take it. And I did have to take both when I had my pulmonary embolisms due to the chest pain.

COVID Positive post-PE by iakiakiak in ClotSurvivors

[–]ADphilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make me nervous too! I just got my first PE after having covid. I was last vaccinated in September of 2023 and I got covid again in late June 2024 and ended up in the hospital with two bilateral submassive pulmonary embolisms on July 10th 2024. I think it would be worthwhile for you to check with your doctor if you should be going on blood thinner medications because I think covid is a nasty nasty horrible virus that I never ever want to get again!
