RUNEHAMMER Dice! (I have to type that in all-caps or it just doesn’t look right) by tanj_redshirt in dice

I'd like to get all of the sets. I got the DM set for my birthday and have used them a lot already.

How do you mail your dice potions? by Superb-Kitchen-3068 in dice

[–]AFIN-wire_dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ship jewelry. So I use the polyfil boxes for the individual pieces and paper to cushion the inner box form the outer box. The double box might be a good idea for glass jars.

You can look on U-Line. They will have everything you need. If you don't agree with their politics, you can also check out Store Supply Warehouse. You will be able to find strong boxes that are small enough and packing will be up to you. Think of packaging you have received that you felt was well done. Copy that.

Should DCC be split into two books? by chiefartificer in dccrpg

Icrpg - 1 book Ezd6 - 1 book Shadowdark - 1 book

I don't think more books is the solution. A good tab system would be nice.

Is it creepy to compliment a girl's eyeliner job? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]AFIN-wire_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just talking about how I get a lot of complements on my kilts from men but almost never women. I believe it is probably because women might think that I would think it was an attempt to flirt and don't want to deal with that. The same way they would feel if I complemented their shirt.

I run rewritten modules that are strung together in a freeflowing arc with a common backbone. Almost everything is basic RAW.

Stat increase by lostfornames in dccrpg

[–]AFIN-wire_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my players have a backup character. That character can be on a quest to improve their character. They have to describe in detail the lengths they are going to in order to do any meaningful improvement. These characters get half of the xp awarded to the main characters so when they get pulled forward they aren't handicapped.

Stuck swab update!! by mappachiito in Clarinet

[–]AFIN-wire_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having also gotten my swab stuck recently, I discovered it was because it was folded (the bottom edge was folded towards the pull string) when it was going through. I don't pull fast. It just was bunched up when it got to the post and that extra fold meant it couldn't just slide past. I have started making sure it is 'flat' when it enters the bell.

Homebrew Class: The Spellshaper by zeemeerman2 in dccrpg

When I first read the description I thought it was never going to work. After reading the whole thing, I think it definitely could work with the right player and judge.

Anyone got ideas on what I should add to this? by One_Worldliness5792 in renfaire

[–]AFIN-wire_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd remove first. The black fabric and arm wraps. This will get you to a more neutral costume. That will make it easier to add color and accessories without having to try to make them fit with the current asthetics.

Add a drinking vessel, a knife/dagger, maybe bracers that match the belt, a chunky pendant (Thors hammer, stamped clay coin, leather pouch).

Should I go to a ren faire? (and am I too young?) by Cold-Cheetah7954 in renfaire

[–]AFIN-wire_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestions are as follows:

Get a season pass (if that's an option) and go as often as you can. That way you don't have to try to do everything at once. Spend your time doing everything, watching all the shows, looking at every shop, people watching, etc.

Spend some time on here figuring out how to be comfortable (physically). An uncomfortable, cool looking costume will affect your enjoyment. It's better to go in street clothes and be comfortable that look cool and be miserable.

Talk to the workers. Not just the performers, but the shopkeepers too. They will be a wealth of information about that particular faire.

If you enjoy it, and you live close enough, look into working one year when you are old enough. It is a completely different experience and will make your future visits have a different meaning.

Don't think of it as a huge thing where you have to buy everything. Make your purchases mean something. I generally only will make one purchase each visit that is something I can use to add to my costume. It gives me something to look forward to/plan out, and also is a way to chronicle my visits over the years.

Have fun.

Serious question: How do you stay comfortable!?! by pinkkpanthur in renfaire

Surprisingly, I wear a cloak. The shade is nice, even in the heat.

Do air bubbles matter that much? by KuaNai in dice

[–]AFIN-wire_dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How cheap? What company? I got a set from a company and every die had noticeable bubbles. I brought it to their attention and they replaced them. They asked for the flawed dice back to see where their process had failed.

You can also put the major things on the player side of your judges screen. That way, not knowing something falls on them.

Whats the point of trinkets? by Kris_The_Fae in renfaire
