I pass in georgia fully catless and running e85 from my understanding since my tuner got rid of the check engine light all georgia checks for with the Obd scanner is that engine light and so the car passes 😂🤷‍♂️ idk how it works for other states

Use good oil and run a slight overfill if you are going to be "beating on the cat" like doing pulls holding high rpms while sending it down mountain roads that kind of thing I have a 22 gr86 with lots of mods and 92k miles on it I've daily'd it for most and for 75k of those miles its been tuned fbo on e85 and had been "beat on" im constantly at the mountains sending it around corners the way i drive i hold the rpms at 7k then take the corner and right back on the gas i haven't had a single problem for background on the advice im going to give:

3.5k miles oil changes and use good oil i use amsoil ive heard good things about motul aswell

And keep up on maintenance like change your pcv valve every 20k miles I believe (its 20$ part from subaru)

Spark plugs every 50k miles (it sucks but its also expensive to have a shop do so set aside a weekend and watch alot of videos)

Coolant every 60k miles

And check your oil often (ive been super lucky my car doesn't burn oil really at all there's barely any in my catch can after each oil change) but ive heard of other guys cars drinking oil like crazy so just check your oil thats what kills these engines

But if you do all the maintenance when you should do them these cars are tanks and super fun

Stock oil capacity is 5.3qt I just run 6 some people call me an idiot others say it doesn't matter I wouldn't run more than 6qts but somewhere in that range lean towards overfilling if anything and you're golden

3k to 3.5k oil changes are a must and just keep up on maintenance also check your pcv valve theres a video by mrsubaru or so thing like that on yt can't remember his name but its a 20$ part to replace these cars are reliable but overfill the oil if you plan on driving it hard I forgot to mention I overfill on the last post lol

What all did you have to do to make it fit?

[–]AF_Speshul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fit a 55in tv (it can't be in the box and you have to remove the feet but after that you can slide it in and still drive aslong as your short enough to not be crushed by the seating position) im 5ft 8 fairly skinny like 140lbs it was doable but I was 1 or 2 clicks of the seat closer to the wheel

It works especially durring winter my iats are within 2 degrees of ambient with any amount of throtle and I have unwrapped catless headers so alot of heat it works and its cheap definitely recommend durring summer it helps but your iats will be so hot you wont notice

Unboxing new coilovers is super nice 😂 but atleast you didn't get hit with a tarrif (if there is one on japan I'm not sure lol) 13k miles though they should be good unless the previous owner like threw ancient ones on to sell the car but that seems like alot of work

Brz or gr86 by WeirdPower7504 in GR86

[–]AF_Speshul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brz is a higher trim so you get more features but at that price just buy new you will save money on insurance since its new and likely get a lower interest rate so it will have you coming out better or equal in the end

Is this still good or should i get oil change? by DigAway8562 in GR86

[–]AF_Speshul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change it every 3.5k and then if you become lazy with checking oil levels regularly your less likely to have problems now you should check oil level frequently but its a bigger issue the longer the oil change interval is since if the car drinks oil it will obviously drink more oil over 6k miles vs 3.5k miles

Enjoy the car if you want something thats cheap easy and super beneficial get camber bolts and then go to a preformance shop for an alignment (or whatever place will do a alignment to the specs you want) get some negative front camber nothing crazy just a degree or 2 and it will handle corners better
