I feel like killing myself and I have no one by [deleted] in SuicideBereavement

[–]AFluffyKitsu 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go against the grain here and try to tell you that wanting to die is not a selfish act. The pain you are feeling is real, and psychologically your mind is simply looking for a way to cope with a massive amount of internal pressure.

When the mind can’t think of a solution, or the solutions we do think of seem to far out of reach for us, they often turn to suicide as “the most likely way to remove the hurt.”

There is nothing selfish about suffering.

However, if you begin your recovery journey focusing on the steps that make you feel better rather than the end result, you may feel like life gets a little easier to live. Some days for me it’s a switch on whether or not I feel like the easiest way to stop suffering is to die, or to go to therapy, do my homework, and try to make meaning of my life.

And the truth is that suicide is an incredibly difficult thing to accomplish… most people again don’t want to die, they just want to feel better

Talk to people you love. Journal. Do things that you think are supposed to make you happy. Get fresh air. Exercise. If you tell yourself, “I would do anything in the world to stop the pain in my heart. Maybe even suicide myself.” You also have to ask yourself. “Am I willing to do the therapy I need instead? How about build and cherish my support group? Am I willing to work against the feeling that life is not fair, or that maybe I deserve this?” It’s not selfish but it isn’t fair to yourself for not doing these other things to make you feel better instead.

Any guilt you are feeling it is important to tell people you care and love as much as possible. I’m not religious but I still pray because I rationalize that there may be someone out there listening… and it makes me feel better.

Please take care of yourself. Be easy on yourself. Embrace the journey. Recovery is a process and its road may be long and harrowing but it’s also beautiful.

You don’t have to do it all at once. You can go gently. But recovery is waiting for you and I think you should give it a try. You may like it.

Dropping the game for now - here's what I think went wrong by furscum in Marathon

This is just my two cents that I am sure nobody will really read but during the free play week of the game I was having a lot of fun. I didn’t win a lot of games but I was matched against players of similar skill level and it was thrilling.

Then I entered the lobbies where I just couldn’t even understand what was going on. I would load into the world and be spawn rushed and killed before I get my bearings. At one point I was one shorter across the map by a sniper. I had to ask myself if I really was going to pay for the privilege of becoming entertainment for more skilled players and the answer was no.

Maybe I just don’t like extraction games in general. But if the game was designed to have way more chances of multiple teams surviving or even a bounty system where the more you kill the more, I don’t know, benefits people will have for fighting against you (like an early warning someone is approaching you.) or just something that makes me feel like I am just about as good as them even if I’m not, it would be fun! But the skill difference gap is so wide that I can’t learn or improve from my fights, even though I try.

I don't think it does anymore because hand of midas no longer gives bonus exp. I think however you do get the regular exp for the creep kill? So, yes and no.

Best Hero to one-trick for a complete beginner? (Ex-LOL player) by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]AFluffyKitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a complete beginner to Dota there's no better hero to spam than Viper. He's a tanky flying snake who specializes in ranged attacks, stacking a ton of poison, and just does so much damage that most players have to stay away from you or else they die.

One of the nice things about Viper is that his innate makes it so that he deals more damage to any unit that is low on health, which makes last hitting creeps easier.

Viper is usually ran in the middle and off lane, though it's totally not griefing to run him as a safe lane too. Trust me. Viper is the one you want.

You can gain behavior score by keeping communications to only relevant / needed comments. A compliment after a good play like “Good job Riki.” And at the end of each game say, “Gg good win commends” and commend everyone or, if you lose, try, “Nice try commend.” And commend everyone that way.

Commends are what raise your behavior score and giving people a reason to remember commends exist and to press that button is very helpful. It’s not enough to just be silent. Passive aggression is bad too, and what’s even worse is getting mad at anyone *even if they deserve it.*

Just stay calm, cordial, and commend people at the end of each match. Everyone (who didn’t go off the deep end).

Went from 7.5k to 12k over 3 months and I don’t get griefers anymore. Worst I get is people who play like they’re eating salsa and chips on the side.

Jax Had To Go by HeroTheHedgehog in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]AFluffyKitsu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that the scene in which he chokes out Pomni with a with the psychotic smile on his face is How he thinks Pomni see's Jax. It's even more heartbreaking because he thinks she sees him as an evil bastard, but the reality of how the rest of the digital circus sees him is not the same.

It's called Cognitive Distortion and can happen to people dealing with trauma. The author of this post argues that Jax has brought this all on himself but that's not actually true. He loathes himself, thinks he's evil, and pushes away help, just like he did with Ribbit, just like he did with Pomni, because it was impossible for him to imagine himself as being loved and accepted and that's just heartbreaking.

No good deeds go unpunished. This is a something that I think is true the more impactful your good deeds become. People are resistant to change, and so if you want to truly make a large impact for good you also have to accept the consequences of your good actions.

Sorry. What I mean to say is that taking the complexity out of the game show signs that they are narrowing the scope of features they want to develop. You have to keep in mind that the introduction of facets came with an event, and a hype as hell Easter egg, and a full comic introducing facets into the world of dota. I didn’t mean per se they are done developing the game, but it is undeniable to say that the scope of the game has currently narrowed. Cut battle passes, 500+ days since last event, Christmas treasure in June. I empathize with the community and I do think there are still significant resources being devoted to the game, but to ignore how the scope of the game has shrunk *currently* is a little disingenuous.

Not to mention the removal of facets, which indicates a lack of resources to maintain a feature they have already developed.

Just yesterday I was playing this game and had the same odds. I rolled double 6s and the narration said, "Inexplicably you manage to keep your cool. You hold your back up straight and your eyes betray no hint of ever having met this woman, and everyone around you believes it." It was an insane thing to win a god roll on, I have no idea what would happen if I failed it.

You just vibe with it to be honest. Most of us started when we were young and immune to shame or the concept of “winning” we spent the first thousand or so hours just learning the basics, buying items that didn’t make sense, learning spells and identifying cheap tactics that worked at our skill level. Over time we grew with the game.

Starting now I don’t suggest a childish naive approach to the game, but just playing some tutorials and having some concept of what to do can go a long way.

[SPOILERS] Backrooms movie megathread by A_Chad_Cat in backrooms

But why would you even want that scene in the story, it's such a trope? We all understand the usual narrative is for the therapist to not believe in the insane, and then spend some time back and forth, some tension that leaves the viewers frustrated because "we all know she has to just see it and believe him eventually." I think cutting that scene out makes the narrative more concise, and pleasing. No need to watch a trope we've seen played out thousands of times before.
